  1. Wow fancy kissing old essox. I don't think even Rex Hunt would do a thing like that.
  2. Becomming an AOP is a fact of life, having kids is personal choice. If you can't afford them then don't have them. Anyway what with all the family allowance and family credit parents get nowdays they should not be struggling. Unless of course it all goes on beer and fags.
  3. Steady on Andy, two fish in one week, what ever next.

    Early Bass

    That's a cracker.
  5. One for Mr. Waller I think.
  6. Sorry to disagree but Carp do not fight as hard as Barbel, not pound for pound anyway.
  7. Barbel, but I now live to far from any barbel waters to fish for them very often. Still I have memories to fall back on.
  8. In Matt Hayes  case I think he would say Peter Stone.
  9. That's the most likely answer Peter.
  10. jeepster have a look here. http://www.nwac.co.uk/acatalog/Normark_Bob...ord_Burton.html
  11. Fenboy I am green with envy at you having fished with Gordie all those times. They certainly broke the mould after he was born. More's the pity.
  12. On the Harris website forum look for "News from Harris Angling" There you will find a thread that Sue started on the 10/02/04 where she tells that they have sold the company to Masterline and that they are continueing to run it for some time yet. Before heading of to sunnier climes. Good luck to them says I they have worked hard for it.
  13. I hate to say it but the lady is 100% right.

I think you will find that was "Laughing Boy" himself John Wilson. If the old grey matter serves me well he caught a chub using a slug for bait.
  15. Oh come on Peter wakie wakie. Fenboy said John Sibley was a star, so how on earth could he have played for Man. U.
  16. I understand what you are saying DelJ, so if you turn up as a licence holder the day ticket would be cheaper is that what you imply, or maybe they don't issue day tickets. Not quite what I meant Nugg mate. What I did mean was if the block licence system was done nation wide then there would be no licence dodgers and everybody would pay their bit. This was why I said it would not work on "free fishing" stretches which are I believe only on certain bits of rivers, ie Bedford Town centre.
  17. Sorry to disagree with some of the above posts but many fisheries here in Devon DO hold block licences and no individual licence is required by the angler. The cost to the fisheries is calculated in some way dependent on the number of anglers who visited there the previous year. Of course the cost of the day ticket is a bit higher to cover the licenceIMHO this would be way of collecting the much needed cash for the EA were it not for the number of "free stretches".
  18. Paul a nice article that mate, well done. D.G. with regards to the "point of balance", on my favourite, in fact my only lure rod the point of balance is at the front of the reel seat. I have tried it with every reel I have and it is always in the same place within a mm. or two. The rod is a B.A.C. Retrieve 6, and I have to admit all my reals are either 3000 or 4000. Has my rod IYO a poor point of balance or should I be using a smaller reel? Any comments other experts will be most welcome. [ 06. August 2003, 02:27 PM: Message edited by: DelJ ]
  19. Glenn, I am sure I have some "bent pins" laying about in my box that you are more than welcome to.
  20. Nice one Matt, cracking fish at anytime but even more special when it's your first Boris. Pleased to see your not jealous young Glenn. Get that ticket and you will soon have one in the net. Er! I hope.
  21. Mine to Elton, very sad.
  22. Vince that show at M.K. was small fry compared to the Brands Hatch do.

    first fish

A really great story Peter. May they continue to enjoy their fishing for many years to come. The trouble is I suppose one day they will discover boys and the fishing will take a back seat. Still we can only live in hope that the boyfriends are anglers as well.

    Fishery

IMHO the fact that so many anglers are willing and happy to sit and fish a featureless "hole in the ground" as long as they can catch fish fairly easily, and regularly is a symptom of "modern life". By this I mean that most people want to be entertained and not have to "work" at their pleasures. To my mind this is the main difference between most river and still-water anglers. I am not for one minute knocking those among us who want to fish the puddles it is at the end of the day a matter of what suits one does not suit everybody. I also think that one is no more right than the other.
