  1. Not sure where you can get them cheaper. I bought the 700 because I would be driving around Europe and roads are all pre-installed on the hard drive. One word of warning.....keep the thing out of sight when you're not in the motor. I had my drivers side window smashed and the TomTom nicked last Tuesday (I was 30 seconds from the motor peering into a street chamber but they were looking out from their stolen car for suction mounts and in and gone in seconds)
  2. I'm looking forward to reading this too.....unfortunately I went down the Amazon route to order it......Here's hoping it gets here by Easter.... I've just started to read 'Fishing from Afar'.......Fishing memories penned by a WW2 fighter pilot whilst a POW.
  3. Couldn't get my head around the reasons for this one.....I've always been a named driver on my wife's policy and we're up to max no claims discount on the family Subaru. I bought myself a Landrover Defender last november and asked Direct Line to insure this in the same way the Scoobie is. They wouldn't take into acount our accrued NCD for the Landrover telling us as it's a second vehicle we would have to start afresh....Anyhow, we accepted it, the idea being that I would look into a cheaper quote (Direct Line cost us £750). The Landy got crunched 4 weeks later and is still awaiting repair or poss write-off so I am non the wiser as to whether I could get it substantially cheaper elsewhere.
  4. I'm a great fan of 'proper' Wild Boar too.....It is possible to get it in the Uk. I have a haunch in my freezer from an animal shot in Spain. It cost just short of £40 but will make a first class meal. I've not been across for a while but my cousin is a german border guard working around the polish border area. Several of his colleagues regularly shoot Boar and it often is on the barbeque menu. 'Ordinary' pork or even farm bred Boar just does not get a look in on the flavour front....fantastic! P.S. I too got the crossed rifle 'marksman' badge during my time in the 'military'. What a waste of cloth that was....I'm suprised everybody on the ranges didn't get awarded it.
  5. Mine would have to be my PB Grayling of 2lbs 11ozs caught a couple of years ago trotting with a 'pin.....I hadn't been so excited about landing a fish for many years before that. I thought it would go 3lbs looking at it but I was still well chuffed with that beauty.
  6. I've never respected him as a politician but feel for him now because of the way his 'colleagues' have turned so quickly on him.....it's not as if the guys problems was news to them.
  7. 15St 1lb in real money.....guess what my New Years resolution is (again)?
  8. Ohms law used to work...but this should help.
  9. I'd still probably blank.....
  10. Mine's to do very much more fishing than I did this year.....
  11. A quick solution should you find the top rings freezing on reeling in is simply to dip them in the water to melt the ice. Obviously they will soon re-freeze but it buys you a bit of time.
  12. Thanks Emz...have a good 'un yourself too.
  13. Right, I'm enlightened. Thanks for that.
  14. We all live in the same little town but it's my Sister in law's turn to 'host' Christmas this year, but I'm roasting a Goose to take along to the feast.....Boxing Day is at the mother in laws for another feast but I'm on call that day so no falling down water will be partaken of. Fishing is not allowed till Wednesday I'm told......
  15. That'll be it Steve. I'll give you a shout once/if I get any joy with Pixmania. Thanks again for help from all.
  16. Thanks for that Finepix. It was the Robert Scott site I'd found too.for purchasing a manual. I did actually find a free manual that could be downloaded as a PDF file but it was massive and my networked work PC didn't like it when I started the download..... I hadn't thought about the software.... I hadn't opened anything just in case they wanted the whole thing returning....that could also be a problem. Thanks again
  17. Thanks for that Nick. I'd come across something similar offered by another chap on the net. I've got a, so far unanswered, email request submitted to them for a replacement manual. If that fails I'll buy one. Cheers again.
  18. Well, I received my Canon S2 the other day and very nice it looks too....trouble is everything's in French. I bought it from Pixmania.com without realising they're based in France so it's arrived with a French user manual.....A phonecall to their 'helpline' to try and get an English copy proved a waste of time despite having unwittingly paid to become a 'priority' member of their club with my order. Oh well....guess I'll just have to try all the myriad of buttons and settings to see what they all do.....
  19. Very compulsive..... Totally crap at it mind!
  20. Obviously you CAN be tested following an accident. The officer did say to us though that as part of this years Christmas don't drink and drive campaign ALL drivers involved in accidents in the region would be tested. Sounds as if it's not the norm in West Yorks to do so, but having said that it's the first time I've ever been tested so couldn't qualify that.
  21. 3 points before it timed out on me.....flippin' hard that.
