  1. Hi . If you were only watching you wouldn't need a license but since you will inevitably be doing a lot of the casting, holding the rod, reeling in, etc. it may be hard to convince an EA official that you weren't fishing. The chances of actually seeing an EA official are pretty slim, though! Hope it goes well.

  5. OK, you asked for it... http://www.anglersnet.co.uk/forums/index.php?showtopic=67760
  6. Well, father/son have caught them from that water before, see http://www.fishingmagic.com/news/article.a...=9&uan=4706

  8. I have had one perch of about 8oz using maggots and a method feeder in the winter. This is on a water with a good stock of perch, you catch plenty using maggots and a float.
  9. The really obvious ones are in the link at http://www.anglersnet.co.uk/forums/index.php?showtopic=74055 Since you haven't listed the obvious ones, who knows if this will be helpful .
  10. Phil's fishing reports are probably only being PM'ed to those that silently supported him by PM . West Midlander's are mean like that .
  11. They look like rudd to me, with the protruding lower lip. Did they even have a top lip left? Edit - Just read the other post with the same photo's and comment on it. Doh .
  12. Er, I thought the whole point of a bolt rig was that the fish hooked itself due to the resistance of the heavy lead and then rushed off in panic, taking line off the baitrunner and setting the bite alarm off. If that's the USA way, there must be lots of wet and muddy rods and reels for sale on USA Ebay .
  13. What size carp are you after and how far are you willing to travel? Some of the day ticket waters at http://www.fisheries.co.uk/eastmidlandsindex.htm allow night fishing, click on the links for the fishery details to see if they do. The Watery Gate fishery between Earl Shilton and Thurlaston also allows night fishing.
  14. Vagabond is the resident expert, did you see his Brazilian trip reports here?... http://www.anglersnet.co.uk/forums/index.php?showtopic=69714 http://www.anglersnet.co.uk/forums/index.php?showtopic=69739 http://www.anglersnet.co.uk/forums/index.php?showtopic=69782 http://www.anglersnet.co.uk/forums/index.php?showtopic=69798 http://www.anglersnet.co.uk/forums/index.php?showtopic=69801
  15. Thanks, it's always nice to get some feedback.
  16. Re the "I have fished it once and it was good, I'm going again this sunday.", how was it for species variety and sizes?

  18. Here's one, with reviews, so there must be some more out there if you get the Google search correct ... http://www.fishingmagic.com/review/reviewp...7/rgn/9/v/1/sp/
  19. Don't ignore the margins. On my local small gravel pit http://www.fisheries.co.uk/millfarm/index.htm, which does have a lot of carp in it, the margins can be very productive once the warmer weather arrives. I fished it yesterday evening for the first time since the winter months and there were small groups of carp cruising the margins everywhere, mostly 6-12lb fish with the occasional better double. They weren't that interested in a bait freelined in front of them, although I did eventually persuade one to take on the drop. Moving swims to one with a more likely feeding area close in resulted in 4 carp in the 8-11½lb range, all on freelined luncheonmeat. I have method fished it a few times and had some good catches just using a couple of grains of sweetcorn as bait (I don't use boilies or other high-tech baits) and a commercial method mix, but method fishing isn't my favoured way of fishing.
  20. To avoid the "Crack of Dawn"/"Wiggly Worm" (or even Patrizia's photo ) and reduce the size of posts set this option to No... My Controls->Options->Board Settings->Do you wish to view members signatures when reading topics? You do have to log on for it to take effect, if you are viewing as a Guest the signatures will still show up.
  21. "Mixers" are small roundish dog biscuits, e.g. Pedigree Chum mixers. They are cheap and easy to use as bait or loose feed. They can be used unsoaked and hair rigged, glued or bait banded to the hook, or soaked/flavoured to soften/colour them and hooked directly. You can even get imitation plastic ones that work pretty well, they are the equivalent of cork balls first used a long time ago. The great advantage of floating baits is that you can loose feed them (wildfowl permitting) and see if anything is interested, so you could try this on the river too. On the lake feed several areas, including the margins (especially under any trees/bushes or by reed beds) which can be especially productive as the fish come in closer in the evening. Balanced baits are popular these days, using fake plastic corn in combination with real corn is a common combination, so any balanced bait is worth a try.
  22. Not sure about sugar puffs, but I've had lots of bream and roach and a few tench on floating crust (plus carp, crucian carp, rudd, golden orfe and chub). Surface fishing isn't only a summer activity, I've been catching a few carp all winter on surface baits, and in the last couple of weeks the rudd have been so active on the surface that they are a nuisance. On my local still waters, floating crust seems to catch all species, whereas mixers catch carp almost exclusively. Throw/catapult some loose crust or mixers (or sugar puffs if you must) in and see what comes up .
  23. Don't know why Newt didn't post this old picture to impress Patty... http://www.anglersnet.co.uk/forums/index.p...=67760&st=0 OK, maybe I do .
  24. Did you read the details of that on http://www.fisheries.co.uk/riddings/index.htm? That seems a fair way to travel. If we keep bumping this to the top maybe the North Leicestershire posters will eventually respond with more local advice . Or you could pretend you are an exotic foreign female to get more responses .
