  4. 10lb line no wire trace needed as none of the fish seemed to have teeth! The most succesful lure seemed to be the one they wanted on the day!.I know the statement seems daft but one day they would only touch a spinner and the next worms/nightcrawlers where most definetly the top menu for the day. Two days later the rubber worms coloured black produced the goods, they wouldn't even look at the other colours, fishing don't you just love it? Keith
  5. A few waters have sturgeon in them in the North West, up to about 30 to 40lb. ________ and Beaconsview to name but two! And he is right. they fight pretty good for " A nuisance fish". Keith
  6. Bits and Bobs, If you have the time and look a bit further up after the M6 turn off, you might see the Buzzards fling there. I have released a few Kestrels around the end of the Knowsley bypass and a few Sparrowhawks near to the Derbs estate!! Cracking birds, but neither will catch you anything to eat Keith

  9. Been with them for over 18mts. No problem at all. Even have my mobile with them with line rental for £4.99 a month plus calls. Saved my self nearly £12 a month using them instead of the last company. Keith [ 03. March 2004, 09:40 PM: Message edited by: Keith Finn ]
  10. why not try the stuff they use to coat carp leads with? You only have to heat the endsand stick it into the powder. Keith
  11. I used to live near Newsham in the early seventies and its where I learnt to fish. They originally cleaned it out of all the silt around about 1977/78 and laid all the silt in huge mounds by the trees near to the , now long gone, tennis courts. Remanants of these mounds are now well grassed over but when they was first there you should have seen the amount of second world war 2 ammunition that we used to dig out of the mud as well as other things. If I remember rightly it was then drained again sometime in the late 80s or early 90s to fix a leak and clear more silt and the horrendous amount of weed that the first dredging caused!! and also repair the collapsing banks. Not been anywhere near the place since I moved away so cannot comment any further. Keith
  12. Thats what I thought, Cheers mate Keith
  13. Just been onto ebay site to change my emailaddress to my new one and have just got two back!!! One tells me about the change and the other tells me to enter the verification code but it also asks for my credit card details as further comfirmation. Is that right or is this a blag? Keith

  15. Don't forget it has been very high pressure, cold and sunny for the past week. Not very good times to be carp fishing!!! Try it again when it has been raining or a change in the weather, you might catch then. Carp fishing, Don't you just love it? Also, you live in Wales and nothing much happens there in the Winter Keith
  16. Don't mention complaning to the wife, she can whinge for England and win every time, It goes in one ear and out the other with me,. From her complaining she has got,:- First class flights and a stay in an 5* hotel for the night for us, Half price flights for last year, Unlimited access to Universal studios and Island of Adventure for a week, Two cases of beer because three of the tinnys were flat when I opened them! And the list goes on!! Keith
  17. Not to mention big Crucian Carp!!! Keith
  18. Halsnead entrance is by the garden center, you can't miss it, it's a pokey pot holed road in between the playing field and mentioned Garden Center. Follow it around the bend and keep on going through the caravan park. Watch out for the speed humps, they are huge just like the pot holes and head for the road/street that sounds like it looks over a lake( Can't remember what it is called but it is something watery!!!). Park up and fish. Enquire in the pet shop next to the Post Office about tickets or whatever and Wally will sort you out! Keith
  19. Hey Guys, Think back ten yrs ago when a lot first started Carping, What did you use then? Bet it was simple gear! If you are starting just get the basic gear. A rod and reel loaded with minimum 10lb BS line. Landing net and mat Basic end gear(Don't try to be too technical yet) and a few rod rests. With that gear you will catch Carp anywhere if you use the bait that they want, be it pellets, maggots, boilies or even meat. Get out fishing first and then work up to buying alarms and swingers and all the other expensive stuff later. But at the end of the day at least you can get out fishing for them! Keith
  20. Top bait, I think I know what you mean, I spent the best part of 18 months planning and fishing for 2 big fish. I caught them both in one night at the begining of the season!! Happy was not the word but it left me with nothing to look forward to for the rest of the season. I was lost, I hardly ever went fishing until November when the kids decided they wanted to try fishing on holiday,. After catching hundreds of small sized fish and a few decent sized ones just seeing the look of fun in their faces just brought back what fishing meant to me when I was younger, I was back in the swing but this time I am going back to float fishing, using the pole again and even getting out the feeder rods to see the season out! No Carp or Cat rods for a few months 'till I get my head together.(Well until I find another monster to go for). Good Luck Keith
  21. Try something different like the size of them! I know it sounds daft but over the last couple of weeks a change to 10mm and also using the match sized mini boilies has got me a few runs when I haven't even had a touch on the 15mm and 22mm. Keith
  22. Chesters, That was N/nathan Keith
