Anglers face worst season for generation in drought
wotnobivvy replied to Elton's topic in Coarse Fishing
Only worried about trout and salmon it seems -
Never been checked by any EA ( or their predecessors) and I started fishing in 1954

Does every large carp HAVE to be fished for. I have seen some large ones in Exbury Gardens on the New Forest where there is no fishing. They give pleasure to many people, especially children. I normally take a pocket of pellets to feed them. Yes, I would love to hook up with one but it's not to be, and they are happy in their home. I hope the idiots at NE and EA don't get to hear of them

Problems with Win7 64 bit and an OLD printer!
wotnobivvy replied to Chris Goddard's topic in Technical Help Forum
Have you tried downloading the drivers from HP instead of the supplied ones with Win 7. Delete the printers then reinstall -
Bank holiday blitz will tackle illegal anglers
wotnobivvy replied to Slack lines's topic in Coarse Fishing
Don't get caught out. When they say those 3 counties, that's just a cover. They are really going to the seaside for the day and will stop off in Essex or Surrey on the way back -
I went on a pub outing to The Netherlands and we stopped at a Belgian border town that apparently was famous for selling dubious videos of the adult variety. Me being a sad git found the local tackle shop and being able to cummunicate in the language had a chat with the owner. He sold me some packets of groundbait called Pere Arthur which seemed to be almost 90% dried blood. When I got back home I used it in conjunction with sweet corn and in a couple of hours nearly emptied the lake I used it all up and never got back to get any more.

IE9 seems to be a strange beast. I have the compatibility icon that Newt showed. I will try it when I next power up the desktop. I tried the cookie approach to no avail. On both XP and Windows 7 I frequently have to refresh the browser to get rid of the unread posts icon. I will also try Chrome to see if things change (improve)

I stopped in Trago Mills in Newton Abbot last summer and bought a Mitchell 12' float rod for my boy. Cost about £25 and he is over the moon with it. They had lots of others. I will be in again this year as we are holidaying in the southwest again

The weight of fish and line strength never match as you will never lift the fish out ( apart from tiddlers) without using a landing net. Some experienced anglers can use quite light lines to land quite large fish. Factors such as rough bottoms, snags like tree roots, and casting distance have a far greater influence upon line strength needed. Don't forget the rod acts as a buffer between you and the fish, cushioning against quick movements as long as you hold it at the right angle.

How does one do that. I couldn't find it in internet options anywhere

I just look out of the window

The EA don't but individual fisheries or fishing clubs have their own rules. It normally covers hooks (barbed of barbless), leaders, yes or no for keepnets, same for floating baits, pellets. The list is rather long so it is best to check with the place before you go. The best advice is to replace line and check hooks for rust. Before you go you can always post here and normally someone will point you in the right direction. Other sources are Google and the local tackle shop. Just give your old tackle a wash and brush up and put your bait where the fish are

It now affects my reading of the forums. When I click on the little yellow box to go to unread posts it seems to go in a random places. Again the XP laptop is fine

looks like the link to the shop is broken

You can now undo the bicycle clips

If it was Microsoft Powerpoint, go to Tools, Options and look at the save options. This will show the autosave time, and the default file location. If you look there you might find a file with the powerpoint attribute with a strange name. This will be the lost file. It could be called presentation1 or similar. the problem could arise that if you start a new file it could overwrite what is really a temporary working file. The real answer is to save the file as soon as you open it to give it a unique name, then the autosave will cut in and you can at least get back to a recent copy. I know it is after the event, but I learnt this by experience. 5 hours before saving is a bit risky.

Since Microsoft supplied IE9 as a service update I have been unable to watch some streaming videos (Turkish F1 yesterday). I can watch iPlayer and some Utube videos, but some pictures on website come up as a blank screen. It's ok on my laptop running XP and IE7. My desktop runs Windows 7, and until last week IE8. I have googled the problem, and tried all the solutions whilst the F1 was on to no avail. I tried Google chrome and it streamed ok. Most of the solutions seemed to advise cj=hanging Internet Options, removing and reinstalling programs and video drivers. I don't get into that level of expertise on a PC as I am a USER, not a technician, although I did try the Internet Options with no joy. Even the links to the Microsoft help forum had replies from their experts almost washing their hands of the problem and blaming it on Adobe or other suppliers of software. Have they never heard of testing. I am unable to uninstall it as I am loath to fiddle around with the internals. I can use Google Chrome I suppose, but would really like to get IE9 working. Any ideas guys Ta

I too used to 'make' my own. I would bring home on a Saturday lunchtime a bit of meat given to me by the butcher and place it into an old (about 6" x 8" x 3" ) Oxo tin, out on the balcony. This was in London, 10 mins walk from the Oval cricket ground !!. Saturday evening I would pick up a small bag of sawdust from the timber yard (free if you scooped it off the floor) and half fill the tin. During the week the sawdust would start to move as they maggots started to feed. I sould fish out the bone and leave them to gorge on the meat. Once the meat was gone I would change the sawdust for fresh, and leave in a darkish place on the balcony. I lived 4 floors up in a block of flats and it was a private balcony. The following Friday I would change the sawdust for bran, and go fishing at the weekend. The maggots would be about 3/4 to 1 inch long and very plump. Mother hardly complained, but my friends user to like using them. Can't do it now as the wife and kids would complain, let alone the neighbours
