  1. Yep I agree, the JW avon quiver system rod would be a good choice Judy. This rod will just about cover all general coarse fishing requirements. It is a 11ft rod that comes with a 2ft dolly section to take it to 13ft when needed. 2 top sections, one an avon top and the second a quiver top which comes supplied with 3 push-in tips of various strengths. These rods can be purchased for £69. The original version of the rod became the best selling rod of all time.
  2. I have Norton SystemWorks on my pc and tried to run Optimize Performance - Speed Disk for the first time since downloading Service Pack 4 the other day. I now get an error message saying - "Speed disk is designed to run with Windows 2000 and Windows NT 4.0, service pack 3 or later. It will not run on Windows NT 3.51." Can anyone explain what's going on and if there is a solution? I deffinately downloaded SP4 with all the attached patches and fixes. Very much puzzled, Ant
  3. Say you're going to keep the fish company as you don't want them to feel left out during the christmas festivities. You could even wrap some worms up with some shiney ribbons and bows to give to your favourite roach, perch, carp etc. oh dear...........nursey, where are you!
  4. Hi Sam - Do you really need a rod-pod? I and many other carp anglers prefer to use bank sticks rather than a pod. They are much more versatile and stable, just something worth thinking about.
  5. Afraid there isn't much in the way of "free-spool" reels (if that's what you mean)in that price bracket. The Okuma Dynadrag retails for £19.99, other than that, maybe a secondhand Daiwa Bite-n-Run. Check the reels section on e-bay, should be a few on there.
  6. Have you thought about getting a padded rod sleeve?
  7. Thanks people, downloaded SP4 last night and it seemed to go ok. Took a bloody age to download though, think it was around 477 minutes. Thanks again - Ant
  8. Thankyou Gillies and Terry, guess I should download these things then.
  9. Another for the techy section but until it's up and running............... My OS is 2000pro, what are the MS service packs and should/do I need to download these regulary? Thanks Ant

  11. A bit hit and miss for me at the moment, catching the odd carp but it's tough going.
  12. What a load of b***ocks! Yet something else to add to the list of idiotic rules dreamt up by idiotic morons. Earlier this year my daughters primary school stopped serving hot cross buns due to it being unsuitable for non-christian pupils. The same school now has ethnic days where they serve, for example, indian meals to the pupils. The same school also sent a letter home with my daughter asking for £2. The reason? It was to pay for a demonstration by a traditional indian dance troupe. All in the name of cultural relations. Do these idiots realise they are breeding double standards and racism!
  13. Groundbaits, pellets, tinned baits, artificals and dare I say it............boilies.
  14. Over the moon for you Judy.
  15. Yes mate, tried calling twice yesterday (wednesday) but couldn't get through. I'll keep trying.
  16. All my very best wishes, hugs and kisses Judy.

    pods

Totally agree with Alan. The Fox Classic pod can be bought for less than 30 notes. I would imagine it would be more stable and certain it would last a few more years.
  18. Ian - Thanks sounds perfect and not to far away. If you manage to find out any more info, please do contact me. Thanks again Ian. Update for all others that helped. Still trawling through all the info and taking notes. Thanks, you're all invited for a free fishing weekend when I get it sorted.
  19. You've got a good choice at the moment with many being reduced in time for next years models. Climax Tackle advertise the Nash Hurricane Special at only £99 at the moment, down from £179. JRC have some good deals on their range, with the Roamer Dome being highly rated for it's price of £59.99. I've also heard from others here that the Shakespeare Cypry bivvies are good kit, you can get these for as little as £60. The Fox Stalker bivvy can also be found for less than £100. HTH, Ant
