  1. Did you report this to the EA? If they've dumped chemicals in a stream then it doesnt really matter if it's on private land or not - it's an illegal pollution.
  2. Ignore the date - camera had reset itself
  3. Particularly when a 2.2lb bag on the US site costs $14.50, which is around £4 per pound!
  4. I'm looking to put together a NiMH rechargable battery pack of either 13.2 or 14.4 volts to power some home-made lights for my bike. This means 11 or 12 1.2v batteries in sequence, but the bit I'm not sure about is the life/capacity of them. I'm told I need somewhere in the region of 4Ah (amp hours). If I buy batteries individually rated at 1600mAh does this mean that my completed pack will also have a rating of 1600mAh, or is there a calculation involved. Also if anybody knows of a good site that explains this kind of area I would be gratefull.
  5. The mother-in-law sends them over every Christmas & birthday, and we always buy several pounds when we go over. I've even been to the factory in California where you can buy individual flavours, their experimental flavours and even mishapes at very reasonabe prices! They even have a restaurent where everything is bean shaped, even the food. Did you know it takes 2 weeks to make each bean?? The inner bean is made then has to 'cure' in a hot room for days. Then they add the coating and have to polish them which takes a couple more days. After all that it's almost a shame to eat them. Yeah right Here's a bunch waiting to have their coating added Preparing to pack a mixed batch
  6. What is your definition of personality? The fact is these days that to get to the top you have to be 100% dedicated to what you do. So if by personality you mean someone who goes out on the town getting drunk, gambling, womanizing (or manizing of course) and generaly living the playboy lifestyle then you simply aren't going to see that any more. Being 1% below par means losing not winning. Just look at the sorry state of the Leeds United players for the evidence!
  7. Greg is correct. The trophy will be Englands to keep for a year and then it will be returned to the IRB headquarters which are in Dublin and England will get a replica.
  8. Wilkinson or Paula Radcliffe. Not many other people have done much this year. Wonder if Alan & Linda Scotthorne will merit a mention? Will Dwayne Chambers get an invite?
  9. Thank you for those answers chaps, a few things to think about certainly
  10. A kind offer, but sadly I don't have room for another tank either. Anyway, a quick update. Had to go to Jersey on Thursday night for a family funeral and just got back to find the tank absolutely swarming with snails. I knew we had a few that must have come in on the plants, but there are literaly 100's of them now, mostly just a couple of millimetres long. The few that were in there must have been breeding like crazy! I'm not too fussed about having a few of them, but it does seem like an infestation at the moment. Hopefully as I introduce more fish the eggs and baby snails wil get eaten. Anybody any suggestions of a good way to keep the numbers down naturally??

    seatbox ?

It's bigger & lighter (and usually cheaper) and it hasn't been varnished and therefore isn't alergic to rain.
  12. You mentioned the Browning Rotator. I have a Revolver and it's excellent. Whilst the Rotator is a cheaper model if it's anything like as good as the Revolver you'll get a good reel at a decent price
  13. Always get comfortable before starting to fish, that way if something unusual happens you won't get flustered trying to find things, tripping over stuff etc. Also you can concentrate 100% on the rods from the moment they hit the water. If you're setting up bivvies and the like when you get a run you could easily screw it up.
  14. The website that hosts most of the pictures (the one belonging to Nick In The North) appears to be down, hence you can't see them.
  15. Yup, it was definitely algae as the fish have eaten it. I now have some green thread algae instead of the brown, but I'll control this by manual removal and by reducing the amount of time the lights are on for. I introduced some more fish yesterday. I now also have 6 columbian tetras, 5 blue tetras and 4 upside down catfish as well as the loach and flyig foxes. They're all feeding quite hapilly after 24 hours and seem to have settled down OK. I'll be introducing a few more fish as the tank matures. Current plans are looking at cardinal tetras, some coryadoras catfish, silver shark, plecostomus, gaint danios, rosy barbs & possibly a rather cute goby they had in one of the tanks.
  16. Non-angler to angler as they walk past: "Do you eat 'em?"
  17. I've fished with him a few times around the world and I've got to say that I have NEVER seen an angler who works harder at his fishing (with the possible exception of Dave Harrell fishing a Severn match which is on a par). His concentration and sheer work rate have to be seen to be believed. Yes, he's a bit old-school and likes to do things his way, but anglers are in danger of getting a little paranoid about fish welfare these days. His sheer experience of big fish handling probably makes him safer then an inexperienced angler with a mat. Is the laugh irritating? I think it's trendy to say so. But now you try and do a commentary whilst landing a fish on camera. He doesn't do it when there's no camera because there's no need to talk. If I caught half the fish John did then I'd be a more than happy angler
  18. Won't a 3 legged bedchair be a little unstable??
  19. I thought the same as yourself re: cats & dogs. If they want to sue then good luck as they obviously weren't keeping their cat under suitable control if they allowed it to wander into the road. He should counter sue for the distress it caused him.
  20. Picture Updates 2 loach on the tank front and you can see a bit of the algae on the plants. Bit out of focus I'm afraid - must take those plant labels out! Algae clearly visible on bog wood at the back and totally covering the low plant behind.
  21. The filter is actually an external one - the inlet pipe is in the pipe down the right corner with the outlet spraybar also right of centre at the surface. The thing in the left corner is a CO2 infuser to promote plant growth. As to future fish, I'm going to let the wife choose the mid & upper water so will probably be some tetras, danios & maybe some small gouramis. I'll do the corys, the plec and perhaps something like a couple of upside down catfish (had good experiences with them before) or pimelodella cats.
  22. Spoke to the guy in the shop and he suggested that even though the tank has only been up for 2 weeks I should put in a few algae eating fish. So I now have two golden sucking loach and two flying foxes. Will probably end up adding a plec at some point as well but as I want a bristle nose one and they're quite exensive I'd rather stick with the cheaper fish for now just in case.
  23. OK, 2 weeks in and I have the PH level down to 7, an outbreak of snails (must have been on one of the plants) and a brown algae infestation. Not unexpected in a new tank but it's pretty bad and has done for a couple of the plants. I'll have to go and look for asomething to deal with the algae this weekend.
  24. Latest version 7.1 no - I continually get screen refresh problems with it and wish I hadn't updated.
