  1. Fibre glass represents the cheap end of the market over here. A lot of anglers prefer to hold the rods ie 12ft plus float rods as well as the leger rods. When we come to the rods that spend all their time in rests. Carbon allows a bit more flexibility with the weight range of legers. Then of course we come to probably the biggest factor in choosing carbon. I talk of course, of the Tackle Tart Syndrome
  2. To get back to a serious note This stuff or some thing very similar has been available for garden ponds for a good few years. I was given a bottle tried it, it didnt work.
  3. Glass fibre tips are softer than carbon tips. So show bites better. As always the use of the softest tip to suit conditions is the best way.
  4. There have been numerous articles in the angling press recently stating the same method.
  5. I have the original korum chair. The fittings for the back adjuster are the same as other chairs. The angle of the back can also be altered by adjusting the height of front and rear legs. As can the others. The korum chair is designed to take korum fittings, although other makes fit. I use an "arm" to take the butt away from the chair this also allows me to adjust the position of the reel for comfort. This is no different than would be done on a seat box.
  6. My understanding of the grades of ply is this. Normal ply a non waterproof glue is used there are also "voids" in the ply. These are gaps left in the sheets as expansion joints which can be seen if viewed edge on. Exterior waterproof glue minimal voids. Marine no voids waterproof glue. There grades within grades to.
  7. There is a simple and easy as well as comparatively cheap answer to the algae. I dont know the actaul amounts needed but a few bales of barley straw anchored down would prove effective.
  8. An article in last weeks AT stated four new stretches. Rivers Severn, Dee, Weaver and Tern. I dont know any more than that.
  9. Cheers Davy, more years ago than I care to remember I was a member. rivers werent the reason I joined. All the big clubs in that area had stretches of rivers

  11. Buyers beware. I'll apologise if this has been posted before. Its worth brining it back to every ones attention. http://uk.news.yahoo.com/21/20100131/tuk-1...ed-6323e80.html
  12. Thanks Davy I knew that but was wondering if they have any lakes or pools?
  13. Does anyone know what waters they have? Their website is lacking this info.

  16. I have come across Archie fishing the Trent. Float fishing for roach with a sleeper rod for perch. I was told it was a live bait rig. I know I said perch fishing BUT a pike take can come at any time. Sort of contradicts statements made. I didnt ask about rig set up, before anyone asks.
  17. Unless its a 36 inch or bigger I doubt you will find anyone selling just the net. The price of landing nets is so cheao its as well to buy a new one. You will then get the size and mesh size you want.
  18. Sorry but thats not always the case. http://www.fishdoc.co.uk/water/cocktail01.htm
  19. A cheap and cheerful method. Items needed Strong handle ie landing net pole Wire for a frame or an old landing net frame, MUST have a straight front edge. Pair of tights!!!! Poundland sell a net that is of the right size. The mesh can be left in place and the tights stretched over. Cut off the legs of the tights near to the panty section and sew up. Mke up or adapt a frame big enough so the waist section of the tights can be sewn to the frame. Attach it to the handle. Make sure the flat edge is in contact with the bottom of the pool and either push or pull. Lift clear quickly and empty contents in to a bucket. You will be surprised at the amount of silt and rubbish this picks up. Yes the water goes dirty but it quickly settles out and some will be taken in to the filter. Do not empty contents of bucket before checking to see if any fish are caught up.
  20. Where I used to work we had one of these for cleaning rubber, plastic and ABS plastic. After awhile it was noticed that some deterioration was taking place. Consequently we stopped using it. I must admit that the items being cleaned were for preservation of life. So the highest standards possible were always in force.
  21. They can cause deterioration in rubber and some plastics. Take care if any "O" rings are in the mechanism.
  22. Use either ground halibut pellets or pellet ground bait or scald some pellets with the minimum of boiling water to soften. The smaller the pellet the less water. When cool add 1 beaten egg, to 2 measures of pellet add 1 of soya flour and 1 of semolina. Knead to the required consistency remembering that it will dry out a bit. If you want the paste to dissolve quicker leave out the egg. It can be frozen. For cheese paste use short crust pastry either begged borrowed or stolen from mother/wife/GF. Or buy frozen from supermarket. Add a teaspoon of cooking oil to help keep it soft in cold weather. Colour and other flavours can be added.
  23. Some thing very similar. I assure you this is true I was there at the A&E, but manged to get out of the way when a volunteer was called for. A brass tube approx 3in long trapped by an engorged head, Between the tube and the shaft was a black stocking. The method used was a hack saw two cuts had to be made along the length of the tube. The patient had to have tetanus and anti biotic injections as the trapped part was nicked by the hack saw blade. The trophy?? or the two parts of it adorned a window sill for months. The secretary refused point blank to type out the required report stating it was disgusting,
  24. They were carried as spares where I used to work. Admittedly for HGV's what a pain to fit. Only once was I in a vehicle that had them fitted and was actually driven. Seemed to work well if the road was covered in a decent layer of snow. Typically though only part of the route was snow covered. the vehicle was driven approx 10 miles. The chains were scrapped when we returned as they were actually severly damaged.
  25. same reel but a lot cheaper. http://www.fishingrepublic.org/index.php?cPath=21_33_659 Its made from ally. I did find that the reel seat was to big to fit screw winch fittings but easily rectified with a file. I also polished the "pin" with some brasso, this made a big difference to the free running.
