  1. Hi Clint, thanks for the info. I'm an EADAC member myself so if you ever see me about give me a shout. I don't often fish the EADAC stretch - I'm a member of the Railway club as well and tend to fish their stretches - especially in the winter ( it's fly only in the summer - mostly ) however if there's pike that big in there I'll have to make the effort !! Anyway had some more carp this morning, first was a mirror, and possibly the worst condition carp I've seen. All the fins were ragged including the tail. Complete contrast to the two I had last week, which were absolutely perfect commons. It got better though, next fish was a PB, a mirror that weighed 22lb 12 oz !! http://www.go-fishing.org/upload/files/IMG_1319[1] For me this is my biggest fish ever, made all the better by coming from the river !! 30 minutes later a PB Itchen chub - 5lb exactly. What a day!!
  2. Skeetex, moon boots or if you're a rover maybe the field boots. I've got both and can recommend. Nothing worse than cold feet - you need to be comfortable to fish effectively
  3. OK following on, I think my screen seems to flicker now, is that anything to do with the new drivers ?. Also how much of a job is it to fit extra RAM - is it something that anybody can do ? I guess the first thing I neeed to do is identify the type ? Does the extra go in as well as - or in place of ?
  4. How right you are Peter. It's a bit like the MFI sale - goods always at half price. There are some genuine sales - take M & S, the goods are reduced and sold off to make way for the "new" ranges. Compare that with the sofa shops, " actual price - £2000, today only "£1000, etc, etc, " Compare that to say Ikea where a similar sofa is less than £500 all year long. Complete and utter b ll x
  5. Tried my luck on the Itchen today ( Wednesday ) no pike action at all.So legered some flake for chub, result two nice carp, one a low double and a 4lb chub. Considering the current weather pattern, when do you think the deadbaiting should be at it's best ??
  6. I spent the day on a local lake that I've been assured is a good pike fishery. Good by way of producing plenty of fish - although perhaps not too big. It's called Peewit in Winchester if anyone knows it. First time I've fished it. Anyway, have to say that I didn't fair too well - one fish which I lost at the net . Question I'd like to ask given that we had rain last night ( drop in presssure ? )coupled with a rise in temperature, should this have been a reasonable day ?
  7. Brilliant - thanks guys, now up and running!! She says it's a little slow loading between scenes, but I guess this is due to a combination of RAM and a low end graphics card ??
  8. Hi Dunc85, thanks for the reply, I've downloaded this file and it's now showing as a zipped file on my C drive - does that mean it's succesful and my Graphics card is now updated ? or do I need to do something else ? I've tried running the game and it still doesn't work. I think my card is " on-board " I assume this means it's a cheapy job attached to the main board ?? I've also been told that because it's on board then it could be using some of the RAM and as such my PC may have 256MB with 64 being used by the card. It's probably pretty obvious that I'm no techy, so any plain speak adise with idiot instructions would be greatly appreciated.
  9. Hi guys, Anyone had experience of this? My daughter had SIMS 2 for Christmas, it seemed to load OK but then said it could not find any graphics adaters for DirectX 9 ?? After a few searches on the net, it seems this is relatively common. I've followed various replies from different forums ( replies that were given to other people ) but still have the same problem. I think I need two things, more RAM - I have 192 MB. And possibly a new graphics card, current one is SIS 650 ? Anybody think I'm on the right lines ??
  10. Yoxer - Bottom ( no pun intended ) line is: Most people have a problem with Fox hunting, whether it be cruelty or class. The vast majority of people have no problem with Angling. In all honesty the only place I see any substantial anti angling discussions is on fishing websites / magazines. We seem to give it more publicity than the tree huggers could ever hope to.
  11. YOXER: Dictionary defination: Enjoying others suffering.Causing pain ( in the arse ) or distress.
  12. Yes, look out for second hand examples. I've got an Arnold Kingpin ( £70 ) and an Adcock Stanton ( £50 ) from Ebay. If you can, follow the aution right to the close - look out for ones that end during the day - sometimes you can get a real bargain ( not too many people watching at 11.00am!! etc. ) Auctions that end between 8pm and 10pm seem to attract a premium. Anything other than a centrepin is a poor second for long trotting IMO.
  13. I guess there will always be examples to prove either side of this argument. I'm intrigued by Tog's tale. I see this potentially happen quite often. Like it or not large numbers of cyclists I see take no notice of red lights - they seem to flit between being road users / pedestrians etc. at will. Question - who pays for the damage to the van ? no question as I see it who was to balme - the cyclist, but how can they be made to pay ? Assuming they do not have insurance ?
  14. Jeepster, City Link - no question, first rate and cheapest - £13.80 ish. I've sold quite a few - send them in cardboard tubes that you can get from your nearest carpet shop FOC
  15. Well done mate, looks like you've fallen on your feet - I take it you are relocating ?
  16. I regularly fish the Itchen, Elton, my advise for Timsbury would be a bulk shot approach. My favoured float is an Avon - the sort made famous by " Topper " Hoskins. Alternativly turbulent swims are best with a chubber style. I think many people overcomplicate this - I've never seen the need. Try using a micro swivel, if you're fishing double maggot - they act like a helicopter and cause line twist on your hook length. Keep a steady loose feed and you won't go wrong. Slide your float up and down to explore the depths.
  17. Yoxer, I'm telling you the way it is. Like it or not somethings can still be succesful here. ( Although there are several contributing factors in this instance ) Also bear in mind that the main raw material ( 75% of cost ) is imported in most of these countries.
  18. Yoxer has a portable bidet!!
  19. Don't think you got the point there, I was trying to draw out some info so us lesser mortals could understand who YOU are - the fabled enigma, our god yoxer!! Actually I work for a company that manfactures telecom cable. Cable is a bulky item, transport costs are significant. Turkey and Romania manf. Copper cables, low tech. products of which labour is a significant part. The other countries manf. optical cable, high value cables of which labour is a smaller element. Britain has the biggest customer. ( Excluding AUS and NA which furnish their own markets ) could say much more but I'm sure you can piece it together.
  20. Wow rudd, you either do a lot of fishing or a lot of sh*ting. Not a fetish is it ?
  21. Wow, you took your time. Thought I'd lost you for a minute. How about a trade, you tell us who you are, what you are and where you are and I'll reveal all!!
  22. That's not fair Yoxer, you know you always end with a contentious point. How can anyone possibly argue with you being a b*****d ???? [ 14. October 2004, 10:54 PM: Message edited by: darrell.cook ]
  23. Your quite right regarding people living longer, regarding streamlining, yes can't be denied in specific instances, in general terms the biggest factor is the stock market. [ 14. October 2004, 10:50 PM: Message edited by: darrell.cook ]
  24. They all look like cheap and cheerfull kits. Better to buy a few handpicked ( and recommended ) lures IMO. Quality rather than qty. We all have lures / spinners that never actually come out of the box. Use a few choice ones and build confidence in them.
