  1. that wasnt one day, that was over the course of 10 days! it was the worst time of the year to fish there though and i was doing pretty badly in comparison to everybody else. im optimistic about next week the the bream and mackeral will be in hopefully
  2. hi everyone im off to swanage next week hopefully to catch some bream and tope anybody been recently? ive got 3 trips booked on the san gina and im also going to try and get some mackeral, garfish, bass, ect off the pier. last time i was there about 6 weeks ago the fishing wasnt going so well i only caught a smoothhound, a bullhuss an edible crab and 4 small pollack off the pier, oh yeah and a couple of dogfish. if youve been recently hows the fishing going there? any tips on how to catch tope?
  3. try starting of the ringer and spinning it round in big circles as fast as you can, sounds really wierd and fair ground like
  4. an old one, dont know if its well known or not there was an old lady from ealing, she had a very odd feeling, she layed on her back, opened her cr**k, and p**s*d all over the cieling
  5. nope but ive heard that all the trees by the entrance have been cut down. what methods + baits do you use on knots?
  6. hi john i went and found out about it like i said but then i couldnt go because the money i expected to have in my account from a new job wasnt there yet! this weekend until next ill be doing some sea fishing in swanage so ill be able to go the week after. which NAA lake would you say is best for tench? ive always fished dixons for them but people say knots is better and the times ive fished it its been awful. how would you fish knots for tench? ive heard its really good early season.
  7. im think im going to go for some carp and tench on the pole as this is what i spent almost the entire summer doing last year going to be there beffore 6am. i just got myself some polarised glasses and went to one of my local pits and their amazing you can see so mutch more the water looks completely different. i might go to a river and try and catch a barbel though maybe even do a bit of carping.
  8. thanks john ill go and see if non reading members can fish it tomorow, then hopefully ill be able to go this weekend
  9. im going to swanage in a couple of weeks anyone have any idea how the bream are fishing? or the tope or mackerel?
  10. the best place for tench in newbury in my experience is the canal, just outside butson close fishing the near margins in the evenings. I caught my biggest tench ever there wieghing exactly 8lbs, and 3-5lb tench are very easy to catch there. But as i said earlyer the canal can be a pain to fish in the summer with all the boats and crayfish so its deffinatly a better idea to go in the evenings when there are no boats, the crayfish have gone to bed and the tench have come out.
  11. can you tell me where that tench lake is? is it the one behind lakeside superbowl? id love to know tench are one of my favourite fish to catch
  12. yep just like that. thanks for the pics chippy. do they normaly enter south cost waters? when i told people in the tackle shop and on the boats they all seemed pretty clueless.
  13. yeah i think it could have been one of those, do masked crabs bury themselves in the sand? when i threw it back in it buried itslf so that only its claws and eyes were visible
  14. i dont see how it could upset anyone they would know that its the world cup and were all getting behind our county not all suddenly turning nationalist or anything.
  15. thanks for the info Chris, ill deffinatly try out brimpton/colthrop this summer cant wait until the season now
  16. a few weeks ago i was sea fishing in swanage and caught a very bizzare looking crab. its body was about the size of a £2 coin, it had very long claw arms, about the length of pencils and fairly short legs. i was thinking maybe it was a juvenile spider crab but ive seen them beffore and this didnt look like one. any ideas what it could have been???
  17. im planning on going to try them out this year, ive never caught a barbel and its been an ambition of mine for ages now. i have only been fishing for 4 years been in the NAA for 3 so i havnt got round to trying as many places as ive liked yet
  18. im in the NAA, you need to live within a certain distance of newbury town centre, i think its about 12 miles. They have some brilliant lakes right by the discovery centre and some nice rivers that i havnt tried yet. Wouldnt bother with the canal to many crayfish, cyclists and barges to have much fun really, the lakes are very well kept and stocked though. theres a £5 entry fee to the club, senior permits are £40 this years the first time i have to pay for one
  19. tuti fruity flavour sweetcorn is good, try adding some liquid green lipped molusc to you bait that seems to help
  20. i used to have guinea pigs and the smell of their food attracted an army of slugs into our garden every night then we moved house and got rid of the guinea pigs, i tried putting some guinea pig food in our garden and it attracted about 50 slugs!
  21. some hunting is ok, such as pheasant shooting, as all the pheasants are eaten (i think) and they have a better life than cows
