  1. Shhhhh - the more that join the less chance we have of winning!!! Seriously chaps & chapesses if you want to put something back into this site this is a great way to do it! Chris
  2. GOOD - I've seen more voles this year than I have in, well, ages. Surely no coincidence that there's been a concerted mink cull in the Kennet valley.... Chris
  3. This might give you then answer you are looking for. Chris
  4. Have you met the missus? Chris [ 05. March 2003, 08:12 AM: Message edited by: Chris Plumb ]
  5. 28.36 grams See here Chris
  6. Do what the shark fishers do and make up some 'chum'. Fish heads, blood, guts, etc and put them in a muslin bag so that the juices ooooze out over time should get every Cray within 100m honing in on it.. Chris
  7. There once was an angler from Stoke Whose only vice was to smoke Wild women and gambling Would upset his angling And his only drink was a coke Chris
  8. Err Elton - do you ever read your own boards?? The same thread posted a few days ago by Leon! Chris
  9. These guys have another angling book auction next month. Have a look here (Click on view current sale catalogues) Chris
  10. Do you pre-bait with it? How quickly are they 'turned on' to it? Chris
  11. Didn't you click on the link? - they're actually called CERO... (Does that fit?) Chris

  13. Gilbertron - care to tell us more? - I've heard of Black Pudding as a good tench bait - never spoken to anyone who'd had succes with it though. Chris [ 25. February 2003, 02:32 PM: Message edited by: Chris Plumb ]
  14. Well I suppose it COULD be used as a deadbait - but as it's a tropical species from the Western Atlantic seaboard I can't imagine you'll see many in your local fishmongers... And its PlumB derived from the Latin for lead (which is how my head feels ATM) not the fruit. And a puzzle for you - which is the only London Underground station DOESN'T, in its name, share ANY letters with the word MACKEREL. (With aplogies for taking this O/T!) Chris
  15. Try looking in Fishbase Chris
  16. I had my confirmation through from the EA today. Has everyone else who's paying this way had theirs? Chris
  17. Wrong forum - it's a type of mackeral. Chris
  18. There once was an angler from Stoke Who mistook a Lass for a Bloke He soon changed his thinking When out they went drinking And she gave his old tackle a stroke! Chris
  19. I'll often trot at simliar distances, Dunk. And it's for this reason that my pins are loaded with Fireline. It floats, so mends easily, and the lack of stretch makes for a firm connection when you have to strike at that distance.... Chris
  20. Julian - it arrived today - many thanks - problem is the Wife is coveting it looks like I'll end up buying one anyways! And many thanks again to you - Chris. Chris
  21. You can read all about it on the EA Site Chris
  22. Yes a RAKE - more specifically a rake head tied to a long piece of rope. Raking a swim is THE traditional/classic way of preparing a tench swim. It stirs up the bottom, exposes tha natural food and attracts the fish in - natures own groundbait. I might also add some free offering into the raked area such as casters/maggots/cockles - whatever I intend to use as a hook bait (cockle/maggot cocktail is often first choice). Some people weld two rake heads together so that it doesn't matter which way it lands on the bottom - I actually use a 3 pronged heavy bill-hook for the same reason. Make sure that you anchor the end of your rope on the bank in case your chuck is over enthusiastic. It does take a bit of belief at first. I often think that all the commotion will scare every fish in the lake - but within minutes the tinca's will be routing around to see what's been stirred up. ( A friend of mine once had a near 3lb crucian 1st cast after casting into a just raked area). In a Passion for Angling Bob James get a good tench from Frensham within yards of where kids are bathing in the lake. No raking needed then!!! Chris
