  1. Downloaded Calibre, did the initial setup, and going to give it a try if I can figure it out.
  2. Its almost impossible to tell how good a fighter he is or is not until after he's defended his titles a few times.
  3. I'm giving up on the Nook & on Barnes & Noble who seem to be going down for the count. We mostly read on the PC using their application but its gotten really flaky recently and their customer support has been polite but useless. I'd like to move on to some other ebook reader that plays nice with a PC app but am confused by the choices. I'd also like to be able to bring some of the 300 odd books we have from B&N but mostly can't read. Any suggestions or personal experiences would be greatly appreciated as would any details that you can offer concerning formats, conversions, etc.
  4. I've always been amazed at the variety of backgrounds we have on this site. We all have fishing in common but but beyond that (and given that most of us aren't professional anglers), various professions and life experiences mean that its possible to get good answers to a wide range of questions.
  5. Or back to the 1950s & Rocky Marciano who retired as Heavyweight Champion after an undefeated career. Lots of great heavyweights over the years. It remains to be seen how Fury will measure up to some of the greats.
  6. But then how to account for the eruptions that don't exhibit the "dirty thunderstorm" effect? Many of them are at least as violent and the one in the video above.
  7. You could always try both raw and those you cook yourself so you will know that no odd spices were used. That should pretty well give you the "are prawns good perch bait" answer.
  8. A blonde driving a car became lost in a snowstorm. She didn't panic however, because she remembered what her dad had once told her. "If you ever get stuck in asnowstorm, just wait for a snow plow to come by and follow it." Sure enough, pretty soon a snow plow came by, and she started to follow it. She followed the plow for about forty-five minutes. Finally the driver of the truck got out and asked her what she was doing. And she explained that her dad had told her if she ever got stuck in a snow storm, to follow a plow. The driver nodded and said, "Well, I'm done with the Wal-Mart parking lot, do you want to follow me over to Best Buy now?"
  9. Wow!!! I did a search for the history of that beauty and apparently it has significant eruptions fairly frequently. This one was the 2nd major event this year.
  10. You need to take a look at the full email header (the code behind the part you see displayed). Not sure about how hotmail does it but find some way to "view source" or "view header". Once you have that open, highlight all the contents then ctrl-c to copy and paste it into a text editor (not a word processor). What you see as the contents piece may well be different than what you see when you open the email normally and you should be able to use some of that to build a filter that will work.
  11. The bad guys can always seem to get guns even where guns aren't allowed (Paris for example) and also seem to prefer locations where their victims aren't able to shoot back. John S - the mass shooting folks seem to prefer fully automatic weapons (squeeze trigger and it shoots until you let go) over semi-automatic ones (squeeze trigger, it shoots once, squeeze again, another shot). Fully automatic weapons are illegal for private citizens here to own unless he/she has a Class III permit which isn't particularly easy to get and takes quite a while.
  12. Looks like a really good day to be far, far away from that mountain. I tried to get a good explanation of the lightening bolts in the magma stream but even though its been often observed, no one seems to be quite sure of the cause.
  13. This Article indicates that, oddly enough, while US headline grabbing episodes of mass shootings such as the recent one under discussion here are on the rise, overall gun violence and deaths/woundings from gun violence are significantly down.
  14. Its always a treat to have someone do a job that greatly exceeds what you expected. He charged a good price but did a better job. Do a little happy dance because the above is all too rare.
  15. Cory - that was sort of a nonsensical question. Guns, knives, clubs, and the like can certainly be used by a person to kill or wound others but the instruments by themselves are pretty much harmless.
  16. Hi Vic and welcome to Anglers' Net. You'll probably have more success here if you include some photos of trips, catches, customers, etc. We do have members & guests who enjoy international trips and you could well pick up some bookings from here.
  17. Amazing what a trained eye can see. Who knows how many thousands of people over the years have seen those tracks and had no clue they were anything other than random dents in the ground.
  18. Amazing. Who'd have ever thought about using a flip-flop as a lure.
  19. Ouch - when I read that sasquatch was among the preds that fed on the tree octopus I knew the species was in trouble.
  20. I really though there were limits to the nonsense people would believe just because it showed up on the internet. Evidently Not. Bog Dolphins Killed in Cranberry Harvesting Nets
  21. It sounds like a very legit win and well done to him.
  22. Chesters - I think Christians did away with 'Jihad Mode" somewhere around the middle ages and these days, any preacher trying to get it started again would wind up in jail pretty quickly.
  23. Black Friday was originally set up for some large chain stores to offer a few BIG TICKET items at huge discounts of up to 90% and to open their doors really early (0400 was not unusual). Supplies of the items were always very small and it was a pretty good way to get lots of shoppers into the store since you rarely had a chance to visit more than one store while any of the sale items remained. This year was really ridiculous with stores offering a week or a month of "Black Friday" sales which usually meant a 10-20% discounts on a few items. Even some auto dealers and some furniture stores got into the act this year. I went to one normal BF sale at Bass Pro. Don't remember exactly what they had on offer but they advertised opening at 0400. I arrived at 0330 and they had already been open for over an hour and almost nothing on sale remained. Once was more than enough and I haven't gone shopping on that particular Friday since that one.
