  2. Most of those are old jokes. If they are from this years Fringe festival, it's not the cutting edge showcase for new comedy that it used to be.

    Jig heads

Thanks to those that have replied/PM'd. Having looked at the prices in your links and on E-Bay, I'm once again forced to shop abroad for my fishing tackle. On my next return from Singapore, I'm going to be weighed down with Jigs. This from a US site charging a tiny fraction of UK prices. http://www.cabelas.com/cabelas/en/templates/product/standard-item.jsp?id=0000545115370a&navCount=1&podId=0000545&parentId=cat410008&navAction=jump&cmCat=MainCatcat20166&catalogCode =IF&rid=&parentType=index&indexId=cat410008&hasJS=true://http://www.cabelas.com/cabelas/en/t...0008&hasJS=true://http://www.cabelas.com/cabelas/en/t...0008&hasJS=true://http://www.cabelas.com/cabelas/en/t...0008&hasJS=true://http://www.cabelas.com/cabelas/en/t...0008&hasJS=true://http://www.cabelas.com/cabelas/en/t...0008&hasJS=true://http://www.cabelas.com/cabelas/en/t...&hasJS=true://http://www.cabelas.com/cabelas/en/t...&hasJS=true

    Jig heads

I'm looking for a source of jig heads for fishing soft plastics. I'm looking for jigs from 3/8 oz upto about an ounce with a shoulder for keeping the bait in place and decent quality corrosion resistant hooks. Can anyone recomend a UK suplier ?
  5. Has done ? - No, not according to the courts. Has cash ? - Apparently not. Has kids ? - Come on, a bleached white man can't father real white kids. Has been ? - Definately ! [ 07. September 2005, 08:30 PM: Message edited by: Ken L ]
  6. "Is it economicaly viable to get videos put onto dvd`s?" If you already have a video caputure card and all the gubbins that goes with it, yes and yes so long as the video's don't have Macrovision copy protection that'll bugger up all the settings. Unfortunatly, most Disney ones do. If you need to use a comercial high street photoshop to do your conversions, it'll probably be cheaper to simply by them again through one of the any on-line budget DVD stores such as http://www.play.com/play247.asp?pa=navmain...page=front&r=R2 or http://www12.cd-wow.com/browse_categories....p?category=3001
  7. Tipping up their little tables covered with leaflets is kinda fun though. I don't think it was the responce that they expected when I asked then whether they thought "direct action" was an approprate way of expressing views.
  8. Get off this cold, rainy rock perched on the northern coast of Europe. Australia would be a good bet for a new home. There's wide open spaces, good fishing, nice weather, decent people and friends and family down there. I'd still do lots of travelling though.
  9. No idea. Dumb name for a company though. You have just about no change of finding them using a search engine.
  10. I love my little G.Loomis GL3 spinning rod to bits. It has it's faults but it's great fun with smaller lures/fish. I love my Shimano perfection #5 weigh fly rod. Although I hardly ever get chance to play with it, even little dace and roach are great fun on it. I love my St Croix Tidemaster 7' spinning rod - mainly because the only time it comes out of it's tube is when I'm in the tropics. I've a couple of Daiwa rods that I use for specific applications and they are both just RIGHT when that's what I'm doing. I've probably got a couple of dozen rods that I don't much care fore but that I might just chuch in as a spare. As to just one that's my absolute favorite, I couldn't call it.

  12. A little off topic but what are the dimentios of that bag ? They're not quoted on the UKFT site and it looks half decent.
  13. I used to use an ordinary match rod for prety much what you describe with no problems at all. It was one of the first generation of carbon rods and a bit rough and ready but I never did manage to break it despite putting some most alarming bends in the thing with 8lb line and fish in the lilies. Yes I lost a few fish because the rod wasn't stiff enough to control then quickly enough to stop them ploughing into the weeds but I also landed plenty of fish to just shy of 20lb. If the rod isn't to precious, give it a go and if you find that you can't hold the fish you're hooking, go out and buy a more powerfull tool. 2 Hours ! You need to get a bend in the rod and put some pressure on. A 2 hour fight isn't good for the fish and you could have spent the time catching more. [ 04. 14. They do like to make stuffed animals snarl. Almost every stuffed fox, badger or stoat that I've ever seen stuffed has looked as if it's been ready to have someone's throat out. Mind, that fox looks more suprised than vicious. It almost looks as if it died after being caught by someone who prefers sheep. [ 04. September 2005, 05:16 PM: Message edited by: Ken L ]
  15. Can't remember where I heared it but back when I was bait fishing, I never found a rock in one that I collected and i can't say that I've ever seen one in a hill that I've kicked over. Then again, most of the Severn valley is either sand or clay and neither has that many rocks. How about Yorkshire ? Yo've got compulsive but have you found any rocks ?
  16. So she's taken up the challenge of designing "ladies" underware that David can get hit tackle into
  17. Most gas places don't refil - it's far to dangerous! They just exchange the empty one for a full one. If he's just exchanging, it don't matter how far away the company that "owns" the bottle is.
  18. Is anyone else having diificulties accessing some of the information on fisbase ? Links like the one below are just generating error messages for me. filaman.uni-kiel.de/Country/Country...quadrifasciatus
  19. The north/south divide statement if hardly fair. Lots of well healed anglers travel north to fish for wild trout and salmon and these fisheries are well maintained by the EA.
  20. Try gravy browning. Depending on how mutch you use, you can achieve any colour from light brown to almost black. Molases (or black treakle) is another option if you want a sweet mix but it is a bit sticky. Mole hill soil has no stones (weired that) so it's good for adding weight to hold the groundbait on the bottom in a current and if it's from a clay area it'll bind bait together and cause a muddy cloud to run allong the bottom as fish (usually barbel) break it up to get at the hemp etc inside the groundbait ball.
  21. I should have added that the EA gathered data on river levels, temperatures and even turbidity. Do they make this date available in real time online ? Well, erm, NO ! You have to call a premium rate telephone number, spend five minutes listening to part of the pre-recorded message that you have absolutely no interest in (at premium rate prices) only to get partial informations that's eight hours old by the time you hear it. Similarly, they hold details of free and day ticket waters.Do they make this date available in real time online ? Well, erm, NO ! You have to call a premium rate telephone number, to get their nice little booklet which was probably printed six months before you paid through the teeth for the privilage of having a copy sent to you. How many times do they want us to pay ?
  22. The whole crayfish thing is utterly pointless. Like Zander, they're here, they're here to stay and no matter how much poisoning, trapping and culling anyone does or how much money is spent, they are not going to go away. Fish theft's arn't really the EA's remit. If they're in a stillwater, they're the property of the owner and theft is simply theft and a matter for the police and the CPS. On current form though it's not even worth the cost of a mobile phone call because the police won't react quick ewnough and even if they do, the perpetrator will only ever get a caution. The EA can be relied upon to rip out any interesting features that might provide a fishing hotspot or some shelter from the main flow in winter for fish. This work will be done in the name of flood protection but you'll still pay for it. Of couse they have the power to prosecute polluters. The only problem is that they actually licence poluters (usually the big water companies) and the chances of them actually pushing for a prosecution when our rivers get stuffed full of Chlorine, Aluminium Sulphate (both from water treatment plants) or raw sewage are about nil - bet nobody's heared about prosecutions following the sewage that flooded into the thames three times last year ! They can't even run fish farms without having to close them down because they can't controll disease so we're not even getting any stockings done. You may have guessed that I'm not impressed either.
  23. It does seem incredible that the richest and most powerful nation on earth can’t evacuate the remaining 100,000 or so citizens that it has still within the city of New Orleans and provide them with food, clean drinking water and shelter, but it can find the logistical capacity to move in heavily armed troops into the area with orders to shoot to kill. How hard can it be to commandeer school busses for a couple of days and open up a national guard barracks or a couple of school buildings to accommodate these people ?
