  1. Blimy, we are all looking for a 'hot spot'. I can tell you where there is a 'dead spot',. Kent.
  2. Don't buy much in tackle shops anymore, too expensive. The online shops are cheaper.
  3. Newt, you can get spin cast reels from Bestfishingtackle.com, a UK company. I have one!
  4. If something positive was done tomorrow, it would take years to build up depleted stocks. some scientists believe it's too late already. I am convinced that I won't see any improvement in sea fishing in my lifetime, whatever measures are taken. One thing is for sure, you will not stop other countries breaking quotas and plundering our fish stocks.
  5. This gets worse! Everyone is reporting blanks. It's as though all sea anglers have been vasectomised!
  6. I thought Turbot went much bigger than that, they are a big species. In the sixties, I witnessed a 17 pound Turbot caught on Dungeness beach. It was the size of a dustbin lid! It used to be really exciting fishing Dungie in those days, you never knew what was coming up. Big Sunfish used to be washed up there as well. Now, it's tiny Pouting. [ 02. 7. Can you believe that fishing lines 80 MILES LONG are used in the Southern Ocean? Drowning thousands of Albatross. Once again, the greed of mankind outweighs all respect for nature. We will not be satisfied untill we are living on a barren wasteland.
  8. But, where is all the gear for sale then? I could only find one page of weights and a few rigs.
  9. It's probably a second, that's why they gave it away.
  10. Normal fishy behaviour, big fish chasing little fish! Iv'e seen them leap clear of the water. [ 02. May 2005, 10:57 AM: Message edited by: kentangler ]
  11. We will see Ricky, but it is hard when severel trips result in almost nothing.
  12. I can vouch for the Kent coast. It's dead. Thanet, Herne Bay, Ramsgate, Hythe, Dungeness. Just tiny Pouting, the odd flattie, not a decent size species anywhere. If this year is as bad as last, I will probably be packing it in. I will take up walking along the coastal footpaths instead, for the scenery and fresh air. Trouble is, when you look at the sea, you hanker after fishing.

Welcome Cobweb, you don't have to be a good speller either! (wait for it, wait for it)
  14. I agree with you there 100% Sam. It's the whole point of fishing for me. If I see too many anglers on a beach, I will walk half a mile to get away from them.
  15. Had a form delivered from our local Labour candidate, with things you want them to do if they get back in power. Under 'other' I listed a few things about managing fish stocks properly, and mentioned the state of our sea fishing at the moment. I just hope I get someone knocking on my door, touting for votes!

  17. Oi! Speciman, are you another relative?
  18. Well it may have been a rare Golden Haddock, it's a dead fish now.

  20. Arthur, it's amazing how your beer stays in the bottle when it's on it's side!

    Wuz I done?

Ahh no! They are breeding like flies!
  22. Thanks Swany, I am also looking to fish Grain. never fished it before. I live in Maidstone, so not far. Cheers.
  23. I assume you mean Thornbacks and Stingray, both can be caught at Reculver. I phoned Ron Edwards tackle shop a couple of days ago, and the reports were very poor, hardly anything being caught. I fished Hythe yesterday, and although there was a nice brisk Westerly, a coloured sea, and very low pressure, all I caught were three small Pouting and a tiny Dab! It is absolutely dire. You will need an onshore blow before you fish Reculver, not much good otherwise, but that applies to most places. Even then, I wouldn't hold your breath. Not much help I'm afraid, sorry about that.
