  1. In addition to the above; every autumn the lug spawn and a large percentage of them die off. It's usually noticeable around the equinox.
  2. A bit early for Thurso shore fishing but the beaches should have a few flats about; try Thurso beach in the town centre or Sandside to the west. A slim chance of an early bass on Dunnet beach. Pm me nearer the time and I'll let you know aht's happening.

  5. England picked up silver in the teams with Wales getting the bronze. Joe Arch of Wales took silver in individuals.
  6. The spike is probably for digging into the sand in place of a monopod
  7. The wee Avet SX is a hardy reel, and looks bonnie :-)
  8. Great report and pics there. The last one of the salmon is particularly good as is the brew up one.
  9. He always comes over well when on SkySports Tight Lines. Mostly freshwater stuff though.

    Had a foul hooked one out of Scrabster a few years ago. One of the few flats that lives on rocks.

  16. Out for a couple of hours today after spending most of it car fixing. Just nipped round Holborn, about 20 cod and 15 lythe on the boat. Most 1.5 to 2lb, best cod around 5. Lots of coalies.
  17. Haven't fished there for a few years but meagre usually a bit later in the year from the boats, also conger pout and some bream from the Barre de Roche out of Bayonne and Anglet. Bass off the beaches and mullet around harbours and rivers.

    A bit early in the year but there should be flats off the beaches and the chance of the odd bass. Tarbat Ness worth a look for saithe and lyth.

  20. It's the mobile one which will get you, watch as you come off each bit of dual carriageway. Be glad you're not meant to be up this weekend :-)
  21. Moonan Bay on the west coast is a good bet. Ask the guys here http://www.skye-angling.info/ and they'll keep you right.
  22. Or at the hook end bend the boom back, pass through a swivels eye and fix with shrink tube.
