  1. Just a small point. Mr O'Leary didn't give anybody anything. He sold millions of people cheap flights and became extremely wealthy doing it. I use his company quite often
  2. You say that like it's a good thing Ken I remember the good old days when Call Me Dave was PM and everyone was complaining about old Etonians running the country. Now they are talking about this **** running the country. He would probably get his nanny to do it for him, the ultimate return to the Nanny State. I loved this from Tatler: He entered politics in 1997 and, while canvassing for the seat in Fife, was driven around in a Mercedes by his nanny. ‘I was going to take my Bentley, but she wisely said that this would be seen as ostentatious and I should take Mummy’s Mercedes instead.’ He was elected MP for North East Somerset in 2010. Yep, one of the lads. Here's another candidate http://metro.co.uk/2018/03/06/former-ukip-leader-henry-bolton-has-set-up-his-very-own-political-party-7366900/
  3. No snow here. We had a bitterly cold wind for the last few days. Still windy today but temp up to 15'C I see the Daily Express are forecasting that this is the start of a new ice age. It is expected to last until around June when they will change the forecast to hottest summer since records began
  4. This thread gets more surreal by the day. Does anyone know what they are talking about anymore?
  5. This one is better https://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/product/B00D3FZLJE/ref=pe_1980291_234050161_em_1p_0_ti
  6. Oh dear Promises from Trump? On day one we will build the wall, it will be yuge and the Mexicans will pay for it On day one we will repeal and replace Obama care with a health system that will be much better and cost less. We will sign trade deals with the UK and they will be yuge and very very quick and tremendous. They will be the best trade deals anyone has ever seen. believe me. Good luck with that one.
  7. More false news? http://metro.co.uk/2018/02/24/tory-mp-says-sorry-jeremy-corbyn-wholly-untrue-communist-spy-smear-7339117/

  9. "And btw the europeon market is shrinking, they still have very high unemployment and stagnant economies." http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/business-43154467 Which ten year old bog wall do you get your information off Barry?
  10. Of course, it could all be "fake news" http://www.huffingtonpost.co.uk/entry/jeremy-corbyn-was-in-derbyshire-on-the-day-czech-spy-claimed-they-met-in-house-of-commons-his-diary-shows-jan-sarkocy-hallucinogenic-claims-spokesman_uk_5a8d8b38e4b00a30a25156b4?utm_hp_ref=uk-homepage
  11. It's OK Barry I realise there was no malice intended in your comment
  12. It's strange, I have never been particularly political. I have always had a lean to the right, never voted Labour and disliked the hypocrisy of socialism in general. I usually voted Conservative and had no real problem with Maggie Thatcher. However, in the past few years, when I look at the right wing of the political spectrum these days, the antics of the GOP and particularly Trump in America, Le Pen in France, Farage, Gove, Johnson and now Rees Mogg in the UK and I think "how wrong can you be." What a bunch of nasty rsoles they really are. Not a redeeming feature between them. Could I bring myself to vote for Labour now? Don't think so. Where are the alternatives? I think I may be coming round to your way of thinking Chesters1
  13. So, we resurrect "project fear" Is that the same as "project lying b@stards" or "project empty promises"? No, sorry, that was the other side, wasn't it?
  14. In some cases patients get treatment that is excellent, others get treatment that is appalling but most probably get treatment that is adequate. Is adequate good enough?
  15. There has always been a "plenty more where that came from" attitude in the NHS. There is no incentive to be efficient. When I was first promoted to charge nurse I was told by my manager to ensure that I overspent my budget each year, otherwise I would be allocated less the next year.
  16. Health care is not free. The amount that both parties have chucked at it has increased over the years. One of the biggest problems is waste, always has been. That is fact, or should I say "these are facts"
  17. If only it was as simple as just more money. Both parties have thrown more money at the NHS for decades with little noticeable effect. It's not how big it is, it's how you use it. Did no-one ever tell you that? Instead of trying to score cheap political points off each other, all sides need to collectively decide what the are going to do about it. The fundamental concept needs to adapt to current requirements and I can only foresee some form of privatisation being incorporated into it. The question is, what form should that take? There are many excellent examples found throughout the world where the state and private enterprise work together to produce a health care system that benefits everyone. The problem is that as soon as you mention privatisation everyone immediately assumes it would be the American system, one of the worst, least effective and most expensive systems there is. If you were going to look at a new system, starting now, why would you copy that one. It is an opportunity to take the best parts of several European systems and make what could easily be the best in the world. BTW, it will never happen. This is the NHS we are talking about.
  18. Read the whole report rather than the Express "quality" reporting of a mini ice age From the report According to the scientists, despite the cooler temperatures, this will not put a stop to climate change, however, it could slow down the effects. The study reads: “The cooling effect of a grand minimum is only a fraction of the warming effect caused by the increasing concentration of carbon dioxide in the atmosphere.”
  19. Standard of information in the Express taking a dive
  20. My wife and I have decided not to have children. To be fair, the children are taking it pretty hard.
  21. Welcome back Richard. Glad that things seem to be working for you and you will soon be back fishing
  22. Is it just me or does anyone else think this thread has run its course? It has now descended into personal attacks and name calling with both sides blaming the other for doing exactly what they are doing themselves. "my link is better than your link" OK, you are leaving. Whether that proves to be a good idea or not remains to be seen, but I am sure it is going to happen. Ignore the threats lies and promises made by both sides and just get on with it.
