  1. So Trump threatens to ditch a US / UK trade deal and no response. Anyone remember the outrage when Obama mentioned it? Looks like he might have been right.
  2. Theresa May just said this of her meeting with Trump "As two nations - we are safer, more prosperous and more creative when we work together" Does that seem slightly ironic given the brexit situation, or is it just me.
  3. Vet: I am really sorry, but your horse has cancer of the back" "Sorry"? "Oh!, it's a camel. Right. That's OK then"
  4. Then you will be reliant on WTO rules. Of course, after Trump's trade war there may not be any WTO, let alone rules.
  5. The first four boys are out and safe. Magnificent effort.
  6. John What makes you believe that jobs in the UK won't be lost to other, cheaper, EU countries. Even after you have left. Once you leave you are in direct competition with every other country in Europe.
  7. They are in an air pocket. When you drill into the bubble the air escapes and the water rises. May not be a good idea.
  8. That sounds extremely ill advised and dangerous and I can't imagine any Doctor from any country advising a patient to do something like that.
  9. It is amazing that whatever one side finds to support their view the other side can find the equal and opposite "proof" that they are right. Ever heard of confirmation bias?
  10. To be fair I don't expect that the treatment I received was any better, or indeed, very different from that I would have had from the NHS. They have always been good in emergency situations. Bet the food was better though
  11. Nice to be anywhere really On Monday morning I had a stroke (stop sniggering in the back) This time it was horns and blue light into the hospital. Rapid and first class treatment mean that permanent damage is very minor. Had loads of tests and scans and it seems I suffer from a heart rhythm problem (Atrial Fibrillation) which caused a clot to form in my heart and then get fired up into my brain. I also have a partial blockage in my carotid artery that feeds blood to my brain. This may require surgery in the not too distant future. They let me out this afternoon, still a bit shaky, but so glad to be home. I am taking so many pills at the moment that I rattle when I walk, but I am happy to put up with that. Lessons learned? Recognition and getting early treatment for stroke is IMPORTANT I need to start taking my diabetes more seriously I need to go fishing more often Anyway, nice to be back
  12. John, it doesn't matter who believed it or not. The issue is intent. They wrote it on the side of the bust to mislead. What other reason could they have had?
  13. Chesters1, the 350M was a lie to begin with and although it didn't quite say it on the bus it was a very strong suggestions that was designed to make people think it and evidently it worked. Truthful? possibly borderline. Honest? definitely not. Cod, blaming Brexit for the rise in fuel costs isn't a strong argument, especially as the UK is still in the EU, for the foreseeable future by all accounts. Fuel prices are rising and are higher than UK prices here in France and, regardless of what the R wing might wish, Frexit isn't even on the horizon. Both sides are not short of mud to sling, let's face it.What needs to happen is an orderly withdrawal that will do the least amount of damage to the UK AND the EU. So why do either side relish the idea of damaging the opposite side, which would, in turn be damaging to both sides.. Talking of catastrophe, do you think Trump is walking into another one? Maybe the UK and the EU should stick together for a while against what is rapidly turning out to be the common enemy, or at least the common threat.
  14. We have had massive fuel price rises here in France and my daughter tells me they have in Spain also. I suspect the cause may not be Brexit. Now, I understand that a (slim) majority in the UK want to leave the EU, for reasons best known to themselves, so fine, go ahead. You will have to deal with the outcome, whatever that may be, but it is your decision and no-one forced it on you. What I don't understand is why so many brexit supporters desperately want the EU to fail. You are no longer part of it, so why are you so obsessed with it. Why do you wish to adversely affect the lives of tens of millions of ordinary citizens of countries that have nothing more to do with you? Could it be that you fear you might have made a mistake and now you need the EU to fail so that you can say "I told you so"? Just leave and then leave the rest of us alone to carry on with our lives. And don't let the door hit you in the ar5e on the way out
  15. Don't know but we have one in the garden.
  16. Would it have been just as democratic had the vote gone the other way by the same margin? Not according to Farage. Then it would have been "unfinished business" He is whingeing like a little kid now, imagine what he would be like had he not "won" Ever heard of the concept of a pyrrhic victory?
  17. Tessa Jowell, Labour politician
  18. Meanwhile https://www.snopes.com/fact-check/obama-administration-unable-arrange-release/ Meanwhile, back in the swamp
  19. All of the information Israel produced wasn't fake news but old news. They produced nothing that wasn't already known I'm afraid. It referred to the situation prior to the agreement taking effect "stolen Iranian nuclear plans, mostly relating to a covert bomb-making project that was halted in 2003" The agreement was far from perfect but it (was) far better than the alternative. Iran are now free to pursue any nuclear strategy they want with no-one to watch them. The good news is that b the time the US will have to invade them Trump will be either impeached, resigned or jailed. Preferably all three.
  20. Normally yes, but in this case the man needs to be sectioned as he is a danger to the rest of the world.
  21. So the US is in violation of the Iran agreement, Trump justifies it with lies and against all evidence. The world is now a more dangerous place than it was yesterday. Give this man the Nobel Peace Prize? I don't think so. To paraphrase one of his favourites: "LOCK HIM UP"
  22. Girl comes home from school and says "mummy, we had counting at school today. Most of the girls could only count up to five, but I could count up to ten. Is that 'cause I'm blond mummy?" Mummy says "yes dear, it's because you're blond" Next day she comes home and says "mummy, today we had the alphabet and most of the girls could only get up to E and I got all the way up to M. Is that 'cause I'm blonde mummy?" Mummy says "yes dear, it's because you're blonde" The next day she comes home and says "mummy, today we had sports and afterwards we had a shower. I noticed that the other girls had flat chests and I had these. (pulls up jumper to display fine 36 C cups) Is that 'cause I'm blonde mummy?" Mummy says "No dear, it's because you're 25"
  23. Sorry, but Trump isn't intelligent enough to have a "doctrine" he is just a bully. It comes naturally to him. If peace results (and that remains to be seen, whatever Kim says now) then it is more by accident than design. If trump were awarded a Nobel prize it would be even more of a travesty than normal.
  24. I live in France, so can't comment on the ****hole aspect. As for Trump, I am not bothered what the moron does now.Left to his own devices he is doing himself more damage than any demonstrations could inflict. I understand that the government have to toady to him on the off chance of getting a decent trade deal (good luck with that BTW) but it is a shame that HM the Queen has to get dragged in just to inflate his feeling of self importance even more. The best I can hope for him is that he and his family get adjoining cells.
