  1. Was wondering the same as I made a few for my own 506 and still have a few spares. Martin, if you have a problem finding a spare spool give me a PM and I might be able to make a couple up for you. Will need a spool to work from though. Andy
  2. I'll let you know when I'm next going
  3. Hi Anderoo, There does seem to be quite a few in there considering it's a small lake. A mate had one of about 17lb out last summer whist fishing for carp. I've been told they go to about 35lb, but I've only had little ones. I'm certainly thinking of targeting them the next time I fish there. Andy
  4. Golf Perhaps you should try an indoor sport like table tennis or carpet bowls, it'll be a bit drier. :D
  5. Just picking up on another part of your question where you mention 'the devastating effects of growing population', I was watching a local news report about the water quality of the lower part of the river lea in East London. See here It was not very nice to see the footage of human waste piling up behind barriers that had been put up around outflows to stop it floating downstream. I feel that this is happening all over the country and housing is being built without regard to the infrastructure of the surrounding area.
  6. Hi Scatman, Welcome to AN. I haven’t fished the lake for a while even though it’s only a couple of hundred yards from my house. I always thought the best swim is the front swim as you come down the track. Fish around and between two larger Islands, also in the summer try dog biscuits in the open area in front of you. The back swim is also good, put your baits close to the over hanging branches of the Island to your right. I hooked something there the last time I went that put a good bend in my rod before my hooklink gave way, probably one of the larger cats in there. As for baits, I always seemed to do ok using luncheon meat. I've been meaning to give it another go myself, maybe I'll try for one of those big cats in there.
  7. Bad luck with the zeds Anderoo, that's fishing for you, but still sounds like you enjoyed yourself.
  8. Thanks Seph for organizing a fantastic days fishing. It was my first time on the Itchen and although I had heard good things about the river, due the weather lately, I was unsure how it was going to fish. When I arrived I was pleased to see the river didn’t look too bad and I couldn’t wait to get my line in the water. My approach was to feed mashed bread and trot a piece of bread flake through the swim. It wasn’t long before I caught my first grayling of the day…. a nice fish of 1.1/2 lb. A few more casts and another grayling this time a cracking fish just under 2.1/2 lb… After a couple more fish of about 1.1/2lb my biggest fish of just over 2.1/2 lb came along….. This was a fantastic day, and as my biggest grayling before this was only 1lb I was over the moon. My final tally for the day was 8 grayling and 1 trout. Highlight of the day must have been Vidars pike, but I’ll leave that story for him to tell. Thanks also to Tony & Sue for the mulled wine and chocolate at the end of the day.
  9. Here's one I made last year for myself. It works a treat . Line winder
  10. Not my area but this thread I think may help. Click here ANDY
  11. Nice one Anderoo, that’s got me thinking about a couple of spots near me. Had to have a laugh about the gate being locked as the same happened to me last year. I was lucky on that occasion too as the bailiff was having a pint in the pub across the road. He wasn't pleased but he couldn't argue as he'd locked the gate an hour early.
  12. Have you thought about using silicon sealant. Very sticky when wet and flexible when dry.
  13. I've also heard these book clubs can be a bit of a nightmare so have kept away from them. As ahammond says, Amazon is your best bet and if you click through Eltons link AN gets some sort of commision . Failing that if it's a book thats out of print you could have look through ebay.
  14. Such sad news. Although I never met Gerry, like others on the forum I enjoyed reading his posts and feel I new him well. My thoughts go out to his family at this very emotional time. Rest in peace Gerry. Andy
  15. Or you could try this link
  16. Count me in too please Seph, I'll put a cheque in the post tomorrow. Andy.

  19. Just thought this might be of interest to someone out there. Roger from xstream baits is selling his bait company. To see his range of products have a look here Xstreambaits.co.uk. I don't have any connection with the bait company other than it's where I buy my bait. If anybody is interested contact Roger on the number on the website. edit. I've just been told it is up for sale on E-bay. See here
  20. I believe there's one of those machines at Dobbs Weir, Hoddesdon, opposite the Fish 'n' Eels pub. Not a bad idea.
  21. It's a bit grim here at the moment too.
  22. Hi Moodyboy, I think that fish is an Asp. I'm sure Jerry can tell you more about them. If you look back at previous catch reports from Holland, you'll see that's quite a small one. They look an interesting fish.
  23. Totally agree with you there Dan. It's a shame the site is in dutch as I'd love to know what their talking about.
  24. Hi Zedhead, I can't help you myself but the lads on the kayak forum talk about this alot, PFD's I think they call them. I found this thread Might help to ask the question there.
  25. Following on from my earlier post, here is a pic of one of my grayling. Not the biggest grayling but still a beautiful fish.
