  1. Yes WE did Peter! (Brothers unite face)
  2. Hi again Lee. Yep this forums very pleasant by comparison with some others actually. I'll try arrange a day with Ade and yourself but you gota try bring your Jake alonh eh? Dave.
  3. Hi ya Kempo. Hows tricks? Ade will put ya straight m8 and I might even be able to help too? Hows your Jake? Regards Dave.
  4. Does a very informative and entertaining talk does our Phil!
  5. Undoubtedly gozzer, food must have a huge baring on Pike movents but there must be other, though probably less impactive, elements at play too? I'd be very interested in the out come of that one Budgie?
  6. I'm glad someone who knows him lept to Terry Hearns defence though I suspect that few of us felt it was really necessary? The man catches above and beyond because he goes above and beyond!
  7. I firmly believe that you get some Pike that are Nomadic, some that seem to reside in a very localised area and yet others that do a bit of both or fit in somewhere in between those two types? But I can be wrong!
  8. Just? Just? Andy you had a result!
  9. How can one make the assumption that it "Does look like the lure has been tossed up the bank after losing it's tail"? I suspect its more likely that the lure was accidentally lost and the tail was detached by the hapless mutt? Incidentally I'm an animal love and dogs are right up there amongst my favorites.
  10. I've not time to read all of the posts at present so I may just duplicate someone elses advice? I prefer wobbling deads to lure fishing but green (seldom fished for) Pike are generally easy to catch? I'd wait for the weather to improve or at worse be stable for some time before I tackled somewhere that I wasnt intending to fish much. New moon, low pressure 8 - 10 degrees and a stiff breeze would see me very very optimistic! You have my envy!
  11. You want to get out with that Bettle fella Gerry I gather he's very good.
  12. I'm sure there's something in what you say there Steve? Infact I've even moved swims before now when I'm catching too many little Pike.
  13. Yep I make you right on "the game of two halves" bit Budgie. I'm generally trying out new waters pre X-mas and often don't get to grips with them until after?
  14. I suspect the severe cold may have influenced thier readiness to feed? If at first you don't succeed and all that! Bit Milder this weekend too - go get em!
  15. The Pike Basics bit is good advice as is a Smelt for bait particularly if you're gona try wobbling a bait. Lamprey takes some beating for static fishing though. Good luck!
  16. Good luck Worm, we all started somewhere. Take Tony up on his offer on the 10th if you can I suspect conditions might be more favorable by then too?
  17. Pike certainly respond to the stimulus you mention Rabbit but as the very pinnicle of the fresh water food chain they have perfected scavenging too and as such are extremely adept at locating food through scent alone. I can be mistaken ofcourse but I'm sure that Smell is indeed a very important factor.
  18. Yep both of the books you mentioned are worth reading david t as are the others mentioned. The one I put together is available from the Friendly Fisherman in Tunbridge wells.
  19. This is a ploy I've deployed (play on words) quite a few times. I'm convinced it helps!
  20. As with all things in life it has to be a case of each to thier own over this surely? As long as no one else is being affected in a too negative way then good luck to those who fish as they do? It's not for me though I must admit!
  21. I personally use Power pro in 50lb or 65lb bs. It's actually quite difficult to tell the difference by dia alone. I got a 1500m spool from America off of Ebay for £52 inc p&p a year or so back ! As someone else said they do mostly tend to sink eventually though.
  22. Gerry they love a Smelt and a Stiff breeze seems conducive too.
  23. Yeah, I'm in agreement with Slodger (Lol love that name) on this. The demographics of the mixed species users adds something that is not there on single species forums I think?
  24. No I'd agree with possible (even likely) midday feeding sprees in winter Peter. I cant comment on the Lures v baits thing as I simply have too little experience with lures to draw upon.
