  1. Have they gone yet Peter? Is it safe to start talking about them again?
  2. Instead of paint why not stuffing balls, could save time later!
  3. Sorry jeepster, I've just put my specs on, I thought it said "two hairy dykes"
  4. Bit of a paradox that one, If they don't breed them who will? We've always bred animals for food, maybe they think it's more humane in an abbatoir. Have they been in one?
  5. Should be "recognition". I'll write it out ten times! Go on then! I think one cf the main reasons has already been touched on, inexperience. This problem has been with us for many years, especially on popular waters, with other species. I'm afraid "instant" carp waters must take the blame. They seem to bring a "if it ain't big, it's not worth it" attitude to angling. The number of times I hear "I can only get them to 10-12lbs" and "a few"small" chub or barbel to 3 or 5 lbs respectively". We need to teach newcomers that all fish are worth it, and you learn more by gradually working your way up, than instant success.
  6. A sad but true fact is angling is changing. There used to be big associations, who leased or bought waters to be used by thier members. This is changing, Leeds & District used to have 9-10 thousand members, now its down to 3 thousand-odd. With the upsurge of commercials, with more guaranteed results, and the demise of the rivers, these clubs do not have the "clout" they used to have. More and more waters are going to be lost to small closed membership clubs. The land owner knows how many members there are, making it easier to control, and easier to find the culprits if anything goes wrong. The big association may have been too "match" orientated, but at least the water was available to many more anglers.

Try lather....................What a sad bunch of ******* we are!
  8. Yes they did it in Bradford and parts of Leeds not long ago. Just hear of a bit of trouble, go in stir it up a bit, light blue touch paper, retire to a safe distance, and watch the fireworks.
  9. Cheers Paul, I used to be a member of No1, for about 15-16 years, until my 5th redundancy forced me to change somethings. Never got round to renewing it. As for salmon, hooked a few on Bedale Beck stretch, have they still got it? Newby Hall another place I've had them.
  10. What is it you say in the US "what goes around comes around" true "karma" in this case.

Try rinse... blow dry.... and steering wheel! don't know what thats got to do with it.
  12. Which one is it Paul? If its No1, the swines, I'll have to renew my membership. There is a difference though, If its No1 or City then they both have open membership., so anyone can join and fish.
  13. Had to happen didn't it? I was reading an article by a british muslem woman at the weekend. She was trying to explain why the reaction to the cartoons had been so fierce. She explained that any pictures could be seen as idolatry, she even had to remove her sons pictures of footballers, when her parents visited, family photos had to be covered when praying. She classed herself as a "liberal" muslem, so maybe in a few generations time there will be more tollerence. (Thats if theres anyone left). It still didn't explain why we see so many pictures of the ayatollahs etc, plastered on the walls in Iran. When are people going to realise that we are not the "chosen" ones? We create gods in our own image not the other way round. If all humans disappeared off the earth today, life would carry on. If it happened to all the trees, the world would be in turmoil. Which is the most important? Go out and hug a tree today.
  14. Scotty, look at the coarse fishing forum"New ultraviolet lure". Leon beat you to the strike. You've got to strike fast in fresh water
  15. It's believable if you read some of the other stories on the site. 22 year old dog on 10 cigs a day! Cross-stitching champion budgie! Saudi man having psychological treatment, after being forced to marry 4 wives in 6 months! Chess- Boxing? Wont even go into that one!
  16. Yes Newt, but did you see the sarcasm towards previous posts in mine.
  17. What an incentive to illegal netting this is!
  18. I don't know how you can laugh at such a thing. That poor cheetah and its cubs could starve, this exploitation of poor animals should stop. You should be ashamed of yourself.
  19. What's the problem with "batting" the pin on retrieve, as long as the reel has a decent diameter, then a fast retrieve can be achieved.
  20. They look like something I'd clean my ears out with!
  21. I wonder if anyone refused treatment, would be able to claim back contributions made to the NHS, I think not! What about anyone injured in an accident, while doing a sport, you chose to do the sport so it's your fault. The list would be endless.
  22. I've caught barbel on minnows, early in the season I think coarse fish use this source to recoup energy used in spawning. Does anyone remember the articles on fly fishing for barbel, using streamer flys. They were in an angling journal,(can't remember which) in the 70s?
  23. I'm sorry but havng now seen the cartoons,I can't see the problem. If the cartoons had been aimed at a christian deity, then the only people who would have complained would have been extremists, maybe there are more extremists in the muslem religion. I would like to here the views of a christian man of the cloth. Are there any takers?
  24. I wish I knew how to post a picture then I could show a near 10b pike I took on double maggot, 18 hook to 1.5bs hook length, it was lip-hooked, taken while I was fishing for roach. Took about 10mins to land in open water no snags.
  25. Wow, that makes a change............ My PB is smaller than your PB!
