  1. Thanks fellas, its sorted now with the info given. Havent got to cut off the american, 2 flatpin connector, use my electric razor adaptor, 2 pin 3pin, the twin flatpin fits into that no prob...cheers hoppy
  2. Oh well Dan, hope you get it sorted, sometimes it does help if some of the humpty has been done and then the plumber/gas fitter wont spend much time in digging out, saving on hourly rates, make sure he insulates the repair with something to protect from the cement also if you do the recementing if you can, will save, but after a couple of days though, just to make sure theres no leaks, and always test gas with a 50/50 mixture of washing-up liquid and water and brush the joints with a 1/2 inch paintbrush...cheers now. Sorry we couldnt sort it for you....hoppy
  3. My sons girlfriend has just come over from the USA and brought her Toshiba laptop with her, the ac adaptor that conects to the computer via mains has the american type 2 pin push in connector, I'll take this off and put our 3 pin plug on in place of it....But....on the back of the adaptor it has the details INPUT 100-240V 1.7-0.75A 50-60Hz will it be ok to plug into our mains? and plug that into the laptop? Thanks for your time men hoppy  [ 15. October 2005, 04:22 PM: Message edited by: hoppy ]
  4. In my day before I retired, I was getting £120 a week as a plumbing manager, what would I be getting now? In the building trade on site there are too many "watchers" looking at what a plumber is doing, then they go out and say that they can do that pushing pipes together under floors out of sight, do quick repairs and charge the earth rob old dears, these are not tradesmen but fly-by-nights. Although I'm a retired trained plumber and was corgi registered, I now cannot service my own boiler, because I'm not employed by a reputable company and therefor am not a registered corgi anymore...hoppy
  5. Hello again Dan, you've got a tough one on your hands, a plumbers nightmare a leaking pipe in concrete. Firstly, no way can anything be soldered while wet, complete dryness is essential or solder wont take to metal, so if you can't get it completely dry, its no go. The only other way as already suggested is, a compression or push-fit joint, I was a bit dubious when these push-fit joints came out, (being an old timer), but they seem to be ok, I first used them just before I retired on a new 3'' ABS water main we were installing and had no probs, but the smaller sizes should be ok even on hot water and heating pipes.(so I've been told). The braided flexible one, is the outer braid stainless steel? if so, it should be ok, the white abs outer skin flexy one will def not corrode, it would be better to use as with being more flexy, it will be easier to get over around your existing pipes, as long as you don't try to kink it. I don't want to put more worry on you Dan, but I think building regs now don't allow water or gas pipes to be buried under/in concrete, they can only be concealed if under timber floors or boxed in with access. Why not contact you building insurance company, and claim through them? it would only cost you your excess payment to have the leaks done by a reputable plumber. Hope you manage ok ...hoppy and pass me a biscuit and cuppa tea or go on then, I'll have a bourbon
  6. Right Dan, there is a straight connector you can get, its a bit longer than normal straight connector, there is no ridges inside this type of fitting, so it slides over the pipe and back over again to the other pipe to connect it up, they use to call it a burst-pipe connector, I'm a retired plumber now, so, wether they make them for the plastic pipe I can see in your photo, I dont realy know, have a look in BQ plumbung dept or explain at Plumb Centre merchant. You should be able to cement it over again if its plastic, but in your pic I can see a yellow covered pipe with some of the yellow plastic missing, I suspect this is a gas-pipe, cos yellow is the colour that represents a gas-line, so this should be recovered with a bit of "Denso" tape before cementing in again, as brass or copper will corrode if not protected.... hope you manage it mate...hoppy [ 15. 7. Sorry I couldnt help you more gray, I think it was "release 11" I got to to in autocad, finished and passed my 2D exam and I started on my 3D, which is realy complicated, I vaguely recall doing something like jugs spheres etc and there is a Command for creating the whole object in a 3 dimentional around a spline, its over 12 years ago and my year was up at college at the time, so i didnt carry on with it, hope you can get your neck round it ok... cheers
  8. Well it's a long time ago since I did CAD at college (a silver hair student at the time), but I seem to recall that my tutor use to say, draw half the the image find the centre line and and do an "array" and copy of 180 degrees from the centre line, which halved the time of the project, something like that Gray...cheers hoppy [ 13. 11. Aye a nice little hideaway fishery that Tyke, I fished there a couple of years ago while on holiday in the area in north somercotes. I was bagging up there in the far left corner right opposite where you park the car, I had to empty my keepnet twice, mind you they were all crucians, tench and rudd, but still a very good day...tight lines ..hoppy  [ 16. Pi$$ed off!

Anthony, what a beautiful stretch of fishing you have there and to think that old git had the audacity to refuse you two and a half quid to fish your water, my wife and I would gladly give twice as much as that just for the scenery. Ive put your website into my favourites folder, one day we will visit your little eden to wet a line, when and if we are on holiday in the area...good luck for the future and may all your swims be thriving ...hoppy
  13. Hi mac.. the nearest I have to that it the XT50, This is my second season with it. I find it a good all round pole and light enough for me, at full 13mtrs fishing I find it bends a little more in the middle, but that is not as bad as some other poles Ive had. Ive had carp up to 9lbs on it and managed ok, Im usually an all rounder, but if a larger fish comes along I know my pole can handle it. The top 2s and 3s are a little longer than other makes of poles tops, and the main 9 sections have a sort of a ridge where they join together, I also like the end bung that fits on the pole. The only thing that Im not too keen on is when the pole is wet when its raining and your shipping back, it tends to stick in your hands, but ok when its dry. Anyway I like it and it does me, if you havent got a preston pole yet, get down to your tackle shop and give it a "shake"...hoppy
