  1. Unfortunately Newt what is described above is the system! This government brought in changes in the system designed to reduce the claimant count by 75%. There is an appeals procedure which is long and tortuous and even the professionals tremble when working their way through it. Benefits needed reform in this country but the way it has been done is totally stupid.

    EA being sued

I am also working on a case against the International Whaling Commission for stopping the mass slaughter of whales around the world which has led to these large voracious predators eating lots of fish in the North Sea and North Atlantic which I was planning on charging anglers a fortune to fish, however due to the work of the IWC the stocks are now so low that no one will pay to fish their and my plans are in tatters. I believe that I would have been able to make a profit of £20 billion over the rest of my lifetime so plan on seeking damages at that level.

    EA being sued

I plan to sue the council as there are birds coming into my garden and eating the worms which I was planning to sell as bait...
  4. I was joking Corydoras, reading it back now I can see it does not across quite as intended...
  5. But Cory, they only sell about 50% of their output to other EU contries, once we leave the EU China or USA will buy them instead
  6. stay in, get fully involved, and even dare I say it get into the euro and become fully european, and as soon as possible lets turn it into a proper federal structure.

  9. quick search on google turned up some possibilities including working scripts using python. For that you would need to install python and then run the scripts. Or do it on a linux file system with python. It's the sort of thing which can often be far easier accomplished on a non windows box. Or perhaps this http://measureofchaos.blogspot.co.uk/2010/05/find-non-ascii-characters.html you might find that you could do this from a linux "live cd" such that you don't have to install it, but simply run from a cd/dvd. I don't think you will find an easy way in windows, it has quite severe limits designed in, if you feel able to go down the linux route you will find lots of seriously good help on the internet and if anyone knows anything about powerbasic this may mean something: http://www.powerbasic.com/support/pbforums/showthread.php?t=37555
  10. But I think that the demise of these large impersonal chains will eventually lead to smaller specialist shops in which proper customer service will be encouraged and thus help with the socialising of those that work and shop there. In far too many of these large stores the last thing that seems to matter is how the very badly paid and trained staff interact with customers, the bottom line is all that seems to matter these days. When businesses start to value their customers and staff then they might have a future.
  11. I think that what we are seeing is the death of the recent "traditional" high street. The big chains have overheads that make there position on the high street untenable compared to on-line retailers and also compared to what I believe our American cousins might call a "mom and pop" shop. OK, they have the ability to buy in bulk and therefore to an extent deform the market in their favour, but then they waste the savings in massive spending on branding and top heavy management. The future of the high street belongs to niche shops able to provide a real value added service for their local customers, together with a real appreciation of the opportunities that the internet produces. The big chains have totally failed to adapt to modern conditions and we will see far more going to the wall. All we need now is the supermarkets to go the same way, but sadly I don't see that happening
  12. Jake do you live near Evesham? If you do head on down there as often as you can when there are matches on (after June 16th as the venue can be very different in Winter) and watch what methods work. Don't be afraid to ask questions of those fishing, even in a match most anglers are happy to answer questions provided you are quiet, keep of the skyline walk gently without stamping about the place etc. If you can't get there in person read match results and reports, you can pick up lots of information from them, but nothing beats seeing good match anglers in action. Then when you know what works try and put in as much practice at those methods as you can. Good luck!
  13. Same as me Phone, you might want to check the settings for how the browser checks for newer versions of stored pages. Click on Tools, then Internet Options, then on the General tab you will see a section headed Browsing History, click on Settings, and click the radio button (little circle next to the text) that says "Every time I visit the webpage" (I would guess that currently it's set for "Every time I start Internet Explorer", click OK, and then OK again, then you should see the updates without restarting the browser. Hope those instructions make sense :-)
  14. I suspect that might be a browser issue rather than a forum problem. I use the view new content option ans so far as I am aware I see my new posts without any problem. I will check as soon as I have posted this. ...yes seeing that no problem. What browser do you use Phone?
  15. If you're really unlucky Elton I may get the job I have applied for and drag you out fishing somewhere too!
  16. awesome job Si and Elton, I know how much work this sort of upgrade takes, many thanks for your effort. I know I will grow to love the new layout and functionality...
  17. itsmrb, you need to take a look at the link lutra kindly posted, you can find it by clicking here
  18. Yes Steve, my previous trip to Wingham was from the Isle of Muck, and despite not catching was worth every second of the trip. It is a really beautiful place, with stunning wildlife and scenery, and rumour has it some fantastic fishing. If I can get the time off from domestic duties (which looks quite positive) and if I am lucky enough to get a place I will be there. Should anyone else from a northern location fancy making the trip I could collect up to three others on route...
  19. Barry C, I'm seriously thinking of going, and believe me I wish I was as close to Wingham as you are
  20. Another fantastic result for one of the best legal teams in the country.
  21. Having just read Chris Plumb's recommendation for a float rod it started me thinking, what rods would you not be without? I am looking at a serious tackle buying spree over the next year or two, the fishing plans include gravel pits with good stocks of bream, tench and carp, fishing from the margins to the horizon. Also planning on investigating the fens, especially winter pike and zander, but doubtless trying all that's on offer. So I guess I'm looking at something for the margins, I like the sound of the Harrison 15' GTi (Hollow Tip) that Chris favours, but open to other suggestions. I think I probably want something 1.5lb to 2lb TC for margin to medium range, and something around 2.5lb to 3lb tc for the distance stuff. I could be totally wrong about that, feel free to make other suggestions if you think I need something different. As for the fenland predators and totally open to suggestions. Finally brands don't bother me at all, if anything I would be likely to reject something because it has a "fashionable" label rather than to buy it. Over to you guys...
  22. Having taken a look at the Waterlog magazine website I have just asked for a Christmas present from my wife for the first time in about 10 years. At £34 a year it is broadly the same in terms of cost as most mainstream fishing magazines (or perhaps slightly cheaper!). OK there are 4 issues rather than 12, but given the lack of advertising and product plugging it sounds like good value to me. I gave up buying angling mags years since as they didn't seem to have much to say to me. Waterlog looks as though it may well have something to offer.
  23. 65 lengths of a 25m pool is almost exactly 1 mile. My daughter does about 80 lengths in an average one hour training session! I don't know how. And the 'A' squad at her club do about 25% more. I can just about manage 30 lengths in an hour!
  24. Believe it or not Sportsman I face the same issue right here in the UK! You would be amazed at how many sellers stipulate not available to the Highlands of Scotland. Given that some of those sellers are saying that they use Royal Mail for postage it is totally baffling as Royal Mail are still providing a one price universal service throughout the UK. I think it is just total stupidity and laziness on the part of sellers. If they use a courier that won't deliver to France/Highlands then they have chosen a pretty poor courier!
