  1. Have a browse through the Shimano catalogue. They do so many nowadays it's unreal. No matter the budget of method, they have a travel rod for it.
  2. It's a fairly new product, but as yet I haven't used one. Should still be an excellent rod though.
  3. As good as the beastmaster is, and believe me it is that good, the Antares is just unreal. It is all about the recovery that the Antares blank offers. I love those blanks for that and the feel of the fight. It's like a car with a good chassis!! The STC's are in another league when you consider they are multi-piece.
  4. This stuff was designed in the States for marine purposes, and certainly works for everything on lures, Hawg Seekers Tackle Instant Glue System, and www.thelureshack.com are selling it here now. The link won't work but just put it into the search box.
  5. Got to Bakewell, and the "swim" below main bridge, and you will see the Rainbows, Brownies, and Grayling all inhabiting the same swims. I am told this is very common throughout the whole system, by someone who fishes it alot.
  6. Tell her that's the absolute best price you've managed to find them at, and that all the guys on the forum think that's a real bargain, and are mad to find out where you got them at such a low price. She will think you are a real keen bargain hunter and her eyes will light up, happy in the knowledge that she is with the catch of the century - a man that's love to hunt for bargains, she will understand completely, and may even tell you to buy more in case they are all snapped up.
  7. I would go for the Shimano Hyperloop or Nexave rods, not only because I like them, but they have had some fantastic reviews, and they do feel like they represent value for money, with no silly frills.
  8. Another vote of confidence for the Shimano here. I have a couple of the STC rods, and how they do it is beyond me. No way do you ever feel you are fishing with anyhting other than a two-piece. They are a really good price too in my opinion.
  9. Take a look at Lough Neagh..........Feeder streams mean anything to you? Some very good streams around the Lough in the winter, and it's not hard to find the fish. Tried the Fairy Water in Omagh? One of the best there is.
  10. Have you phoned them? One of the other model spools will fit.
  11. Remember that balance has nothing to do with the weight of the rod. You really have to try it with a reel first off, to see if the size of reel you require, balances the rod. A heavy rod will feel feather light with the right reel.
  12. http://www.shimanofelindre.co.uk/index_shimano.html These guys are the best in the business. Shimano service is simply the best I've seen.
  13. Fish the Bann alot, but in the winter, or once the winter levels come through, the Roach will make their way up the small feeder streams, into the canals, and any other quieter areas, away from the main flow. The canals are always cracking sport in the winter, with 70lb of Roach and Bream, a real possibility. Basically, on any system, there will be areas where they shoal up for the winter, and it can pay to go for a drive round, looking for these areas.
  14. I didn't want to be accused of being unreal in my first post, but yes, you only get what you pay for, and I don't think much more important than with float rods. The difference in quality far outweighs the difference in price.
  15. Rod technology has come on in leaps and bounds and I can't see the need for a spliced tip nowadays. There are so many good float rods out there (ok, a load of dung too), and personally I would go for a Fast Action rod. There are versions available for fishing at different lengths, so you'll get one to suit your style.
  16. Baitcasters originated in the States, where they call their lures "baits". You are still baiting the fish after all.
  17. Information everywhere, and no-one taking a damn notice of it!!!!!
  18. They didn't need anymore excuses, but this'll certainly give them one. Unfortunately, even if he retracts his statement, the damage will already be done. How much publicity is ever given to retractions?
  19. No arguments from me on the Shimano Bass rods, in fact try the STC travel range, they are nothing sort of phenomenal!!
  20. Should be interesting to see how many complaints that generates. Alot of water has flowed since "A Passion for Angling".
  21. Uuuuuggghhhhh........pure angling porn. WE'RE NOT WORTHY!!!! WE'RE NOT WORTHY!!!! WE'RE NOT WORTHY!!!!
  22. You should ask your local to get the items you are after. They can only say no, and then you can go mail order. Give them a chance first.
  23. Have you seen or tried the Shimano STC range? You'll get one that will suit exactly what you want to do.
