There is no such thing as a 'Game' licence. There are licences available for migratory and non-migratory fish. Brown and Rainbow Trout as far as Britain is concerned are non-migratory and hence can be fished for on the same non-migratory licence that people are able to fish Carp puddles with.

FWIW - As far as I'm concerned the Grayling is as much a game fish as any, the Adipose fin tells me that!

Sea trout, Salmon and Eels are 'migratory'

Eels of course are 'coarse' and 'sea' fish?! even though they migrate??!

Grayling are classed as 'coarse' although they are an offshoot of the Salmon / Trout family?!

Sea trout are brown trout that like to take holidays at the seaside!

See it all makes sense?!

Oky Doky, no 'sea' fishes, no half 'gamey' fishes and not counting eels as they migrate, I'd say the best fighting 'proper' coarse fish caught on the correct tackle for the job is.....

#1 The Perch

Yup, old Strippy himself puts up a great fight if your not using carp gear!

Mullet,Catfish,Bonefish my favourite fighters.Even though I like catching grayling cant really see how they can be regarded as a top fighter.Supose small river carp on light gear must also rate as top fighters.Pound for pound its got to be the humble Mackeral.

And thats my "non indicative opinion"!
