Seahog:

.I feel there are many people out there, that given the chance will/could do a far better job of editor than Mel Russ.

Seahog/all

I don't think that Chesters1 could spare the time traveling but if he could be home based then I am sure he could do a great job.

In my letter I was not knocking the magizine or its staff, they do a great job in helping anglers with local knowledge, starting out in fishing etc etc. If people read my letter they will see that I was definately not knocking Alan Yates.

I have said this before, I look forward to my magazine arriving and try to make the reading of it last for at least a week, though 2 days is more realistic.

I think I am cutting my nose to spite my face here though, I will not be renewing my subscription. We as expats/foreigners do not get any of the special offers for resubscribing and are not entitled to enter any of the competitions as well as having to pay more due to the postage etc.

Over the years I have found the magazine to be a mine of information but this has been outweighed lately by some market orientated crap. IMO.

I think that there should be specialists in there fields covering different species, ie Davy holt and his collegues on Common Skate, some of our mullet masters or bass masters, all giving there expert knowledge without selling hooks and line etc

No matter what, tight lines to you all.

I have looked forward to my monthly fix and have learnt a lot. However, the magazine seems to be getting stale.

I see commercial pressures between every line in articles lately. I wonder how much the advertising revenue from a tackle manufacturer depends upon Freddy Nofish giving a good review to this rod and that reel.

I think they have lost the plot when they review a boat like the Offshore 25 at £70,000. If there are no affordable new boats to review how about going to people who have owned one for a couple of years and ask them for an opinion and have a day out fishing. The R.Byzand monthly feature is also getting stale, are there no other skippers out there who are available for comment. I am sure they would jump at the chance to raise their revenues by interrupting this apparent monopoly.

Desmundo:

I have to agree that it would be good to see skippers from around the country being given space to share their experiences (promote their business). It would also allow those of us who don't live in the south to see what's available.

Desmundo, up to a point I agree with you, what I would prefer to see is the ANGLERS giving/sharing there experiences with us from around the UK and this is a part of what Anglers Net sea section is about.

If anglers tell us about the good and bad experiences on charter boats then we can decide without having to think about "is he lining his own pocket".

Tight lines and a safe trip. :)

Chris Parker, I agree with you SA has gone stale. I have noticed that they repeat the same sort of stories every 12 months. As a result I have cancelled my subscription early and got a refund. As for Mr Russ unprofessional is an understatement. As for him stating they did not claim it was that weight well I'm sorry but if its plastered all over your front page then if your not claiming it was that size you are agreeing with it!

My advice, stop buying SA. If you wish to register your protest dont write to them, hit them in the finance dept.

Alan Taylor, I'll have those clips, I had a letter printed in SA last year about the Fylde coast. Still waiting for my clips

Hi Ian,

thanks for the email, I sold the camera to a photographer in Egypt for 50 U.S.dollars without the tripod or filters.

I will post the clips off early next week.

As for Sea Angler magazine, I am not cancelling my subscription, just not renewing it. I don't think there is too much wrong with the magazine, I am just a bit peeved that it is not possible to enter any of the competitions or get any of the freebies, thats the price I pay for living in Holland.

Tight lines
