I'm determined to catch a tope from the shore this year, was thinking the places to try would be around the mull of galloway or around loch etive in the north.... just not sure how best to target the tope bait, tide, times etc....... anyone in the know who can help?

peterthefisherman:

Never heard of one in Etive

You havent???

They are commonly caught in Etive along with small Blue sharks, like the Blue's they all tend to be less than 10lb and look very like Spurdog :rolleyes::rolleyes::rolleyes:

Ian "Jocks Point" is that Terally Cottage where the picnic tables are? Last June I was talking to a Teeside lady staying at Clashwhannon who lost a tope off the shore in the middle of Terally Bay. Shortly after a guy next to her got an 18lb fish.

Intend to have a few bashes off the shore for them this year.Posted your parcel off 14.30 this afternoon first class so they should be with you shortly. Don't forget the tope traces mate. No damage at the Clashby the way,was talking to Loise this afternoon.
