Calling All Brotel Owners

Neither my De-Luxe Brotel nor the seemingly discontinued Standard model have fittings for storm poles. I don't know whether the latest De-Luxe model (now distributed by Leeda) has them.

In practice, because of the extra pegging points compared with a brollie, I haven't found this a problem except in gusty winds of variable direction.

Having said that, if someone comes up with a fitting I'd certainly buy a couple. There were going to be some made a few years ago, but I don't believe anything came of them.

BTW, the Bedchair Brotel (also discontinued?) does need storm poles. There are fittings, but as I pointed out in my review, they're made of plastic and not really up to the job.

Think we talked this one through somewhere else and came to the concluson that it needs storm guy ropes. It doesn't get much use, and like Steve I find the pegging points adequate. I think if it got bad enough to warrant more support, I'd have packed up and gone home :)

The nearest way to fix storm poles on the brotels rib is to buy a set of these Storm Pole Attachments from Leslies of Luton

Great Scott, storm caps that take ribs up to 8mm, they could just about do the trick. I can't be arsed going out to the garage to have a measure up just now, but will definitely bear these in mind.

I've got a Brotel & generally find it fits my needs superbly, that is, except for when it's windy! It seems to twist & turn all over the place when the wind gets up, so a couple of storm poles would be ideal. I'll have a measure up tomorrow to see if the ones Andy has linked will fit.

Cheers
