Anglers' Fury About Actor's Ignorant Comments

Recommended Posts

Ohhhhhhhhhh dear, is this the class of responsible advise given out by the A T. What about 47 or the new rules being sort by defra to control the rsa with. Can we have recommendations urgently about the cancellation or support of 47, time is of the essence..

Fancy getting upset about an excellent entertainment programme, that is all it is, haven't they got more pressing things to deal with. Or is this classed as a soft easy target.

Free to choose apart from the ones where the trust poked their nose in. Common eel. tope. Bass and sea bream. All restricted.

New for 2016 TAT are the main instigators for the demise of the u k bass charter boat industry, where they went screaming off to parliament and for the first time assisting so called angling gurus set up bass take bans with the e u using rubbish exaggerated info collected by ices from anglers, they must be very proud.

Upgrade, the door has been closed with regards to anglers being linked to the e u superstate and the failed c f p. So TAT will no longer need to pay monies to the EAA anymore as that org is no longer relevant to the u k . Goodbye to the europeon anglers alliance and pathetic restrictions from the e u.

Angling is better than politics, ban politics from angling.

Consumer of bass. where is the evidence that the u k bass stock need angling trust protection. Why won't you work with your peers instead of castigating them. They have the answer.

Recipie's for mullet stew more than welcomed.

Angling sanitation trust and kent and sussex sea anglers org delete's and blocks rsa's alternative opinion on their face book site. Although they claim to rep all.

new for 2014. where is the evidence that the south coast bream stock need the angling trust? Your campaign has no evidence. Why won't you work with your peers, the inshore under tens? As opposed to alienating them? Angling trust failed big time re bait digging, even fish legal attempted to intervene and failed, all for what, nothing.

Looks like the sea angling reps have been coerced by the ifca's to compose sea angling strategy's that the ifca's at some stage will look at drafting into legislation to manage the rsa, because they like wasting tax payers money. That's without asking the rsa btw. You know who you are..

I think you've got it, Barry.

It appears to be yet another case of someone saying what they think people want to hear, to win a bit of support, without putting too much thought into it.

Indeed, just wondering if corrie is next in line for the onslaught, they must have mentioned fish in one of the actors transcript's at some time. :D

I think it's fair enough to point out that Green's "9 out of 10 fish die" claim is pure bullshit, and leave it at that. The AT should be sticking to defending catch and release from that claim and not having a go at anglers who catch and keep.

It's always a problem with groups like this that they claim to speak for everyone, but actually just speak for themselves.

It'd be nice and glib of me to say I'm with Ronald from Essex on this one ...

Fillet and Release

or something similarly silly.

Those of us who have fished for coarse fish, know that the majority of returned fish do survive.

But that leads us into a dilemma when we catch flatties which are deep-hooked and I always kill those (in size limit) which have done that.

And the deep-water, wreck-fish like pollack and cod which do get the 'bends' etc.

Fish like bream, bass, rays and smuts are 'hardy' and 90% or more swim away.

I sympathise with Steviecops, who wants no regulation (is that right, Steve?) ...

but bag limits and Min/Max sizes will come in eventually.

We're very susceptible to public awareness when popular 'celebrities', who know 'koof all' start making statements like that.

Given the politicising of fishing, I'm beginning to come down on the side of COMMONSENSE .

Is that still allowed????

Common sence, logic, cost effectiveness would mean that the eu etc keep thier hands off the rsa, it aint broke it don't need fixing or require crap legislation that will not achieve ziltch apart from line someone's pockets and pensions and an obvious slush fund. Sod off eu.

Not quite right, Ada, but close. I don't want unnecessary and pointless regulation. Speed limits make the roads safer and save lives, same with drink drive regulations. This sort of regulation may be a pain in the arris, but at least it serves a purpose. Bag limits for sea anglers would serve no useful purpose. They might create work for the fisheries management industry....and keep a few RSA reps sitting around a table rubbing shoulders with their idols, but other than that they would be pointless.

And no, common sense isn't allowed any more.

Just had another thought about this press release. The 'headline'says, "Anglers' fury at..........blah, blah, blah" Anglers' fury = The Anglers are furious. How do they know? Did they ask their membership if they were furious? Did they get a flurry of emails from furious anglers that they suddenly started reading? Or did they just seek to get publicity, any publicity, on the back of a sensationalist headline?

I'm no fan of Robson Green and think he comes across as a bit of a plonker on that show, but his comments were nowhere near as daft as the one asking whether Elton kills coarse and game fish because he has complained. I mean,.....what's all that about?

Perhaps the person from the angling Trust who was asked for a quote or commenting on the story was from the freshwater and coarse sector where catch and release is considered a standard practice, that is certainly my assumption, after all, the Angling trust is comprised of all sectors of the industry. There is nothing to suggest that this was a comment made solely by a member of the marine team, in fact the wording of the response indicates that it was not, my point before the usual howls of derision commenced was that it is understandable that someone not associated with sea angling i.e. a coarse rep may make a general comment or quote that fits the bill for their sectors, but not necessarily will ring wholly true for sea angling. To deride the marine team and AT in general for comments made by a single person is largely unfair.
