Liamsm - no idea where I'd go about getting a barbel pair. We may have Barbus barbus in the US but if so, I wouldn't have a clue where.

I recommend a book - Small stream fishing, by David Carl Forbes. Long now out of print but has some good ideas for exactly this type of stream. Amazon or Coch-y-bondu books or Abebooks may have a second hand copy.
