BUDGIE:

"Camping" at its finest eh Tel?    :D

Certainly, Budge', can't beat it, mate.

Whilst everyone knows that carpers are the kings of fishing, I'll concede that pikers are definitely the queens. :D

Terry :D

And on the eighth day God created carp fishing...and he saw that it was pukka.

Terry, you have me worried. Very clearly you are very heavily into T.V's   :D      :D      :D    in your little tent!

Hmmmmm.....I refer to the 'telly' and Peter sees it as 'TV'. Something Freudian afoot, methinks!

You can tell us, Peter - we're all doctors here.

Keep it to yerselves, but I'm having a RIGHT result using minced pike in my method mix - the carp love it!

The big old, spawn-heavy girls are the pike to target, and they're easy to snare in the shallows, too. Squeeze out the eggs and use those as well, they act as fishy hemp...er... probbly.        Terry     :D

Too right Terry - but I hope that you have been 'mincing' them correctly? Whilst they are still alive and kicking that is?

Mix with minced Norwich City FC and will make it extremely fast sinking - as next season will show - straight back down! :D:D

Terry and mpb, have you tried the refined version of pike? You know, the one where you only use the roe of the pike and chuck the rest away.

Unfortunately this can only be obtained from spawnbound fish, but if you fish the shallows in early March then you can always rely on getting a few.

Shhhh, don't let on, but a sea-trout fly, preferably a bigg'un, with a paying customer on the other end, is a sure fire way of catching out of season pike!

But why fish for 'em? Peter Collins, so I understand, has a load in his freezer.

I heard that if you cut the fins off a Carp, it won't actually die from the injuries. It just lollops around, in circles until it dies of starvation or gets eating by a Pike. I don't know if that would make it a good bait or not but it would certainly be fun to watch. You could even throw stones at it too and dance a merry jig.

Thanks Den, I'll have to remember that for the future!
