I'll second that! :D

I've been going through a lot of old threads and it's surprising how some things have changed.

It all seemed so polite, (almost formal) back then as each introduced themselves to the forum, (even Gaffer when he was in 'thread lock' mode :D ).

It's fascinating to see how friendships have been made, (and lasted) even amongst those who have never met each other. The genuine concern and support for those in trouble, and the combined sadness when a member passed away.

It always amazes me how so many people with initially one common interest, can come together as a community, almost an extended family, in this way.

You've done a great job in starting this off and keeping it going for this last 8yrs Elton, thanks.

But can you tell me why so many of you 'joined' before May 1st?

John.

Angling is more than just catching fish, if it wasn't it would just be called 'catching'......... John

Because it was May 1st 1999 that we launched. We're nine and a bit now, not eight :)
I've met some great people on this site :D
Really? I must have missed those ones... :D

So it took you over 6 months to decide you liked your site well enough to become a member yourself? :o

LOL Nah, we had a different forum back then. I can't find it online, but this is the oldest version I came across:

Priceless..

Chris Goddard

It is to be observed that 'angling' is the name given to fishing by people who can't fish.

If GOD had NOT meant us to go fishing, WHY did he give us arms then??

(If you can't help out someone in need then don't bother my old Dad always said! My grandma put it a LITTLE more, well different! It's like peeing yourself in a black pair of pants she said! It gives you a LOVELY warm feeling but no-one really notices!))
