10-06 record Wingham tench

Steve Burke

Recommended Posts

Indeed, one member (who also posts on here) last week called eight pounders just small ones! They're the equivalent of 2 pound roach!

You should ban him for that kind of nonsense Steve!

Good luck to those over there for the next few days, I hope to hear of more giants.

I think the future will bring one or two genuinely huge tench. There have already been sightings and lost fish estimated at much bigger than those which have been caught. Maybe even one day the Wingham tench will be approaching the same category as the Wingham bream?

I bet even then the fish-ins will be undersubscribed!

And those who were seen dancing were thought to be insane by those who could not hear the music

Hardly think that an 8lb tench is the equal of a 2lb Roach Steve. I have had 8's from a lot of waters....................even 10's are fairly widespread.

Admittadly, you won't get many 2lb Roach on carp tackle :)

Brilliant stuff Glyn, I know how hard you worked for that fish and what it meant to you - really well done!

Bream next then :) After the season you're having I wouldn't bet against you...!

Well done Steve and Glyn...... superb tench.

I have been reading the theory of "loner fish", can wind play a part in their location?

The reason I ask is because at the AN fish-in, nearly all the tench caught were in the Eastern side of the pit. Did the tench follow the strong prevailing winds during the week of the fish-in ? Any thoughts on this Steve?

Thanks Jeff

You Kent boys don't know you're made. In the real world 8's and 10's don't come crawling up your lines.

An 8lb Tench for me is Specimen weight, Anderoo is spot on.

Rob, maybe so, but still don't begin to compare with a 2lb Roach. One of those interesting points though, most of our coarse fish seem to have shown a dramatic increase in their sizes...carp/barbel/tench/bream, but not Roach. A "Two" is still a real prize capture.
