nice one den, quite suprised actually i never knew you were so wrinkly

Miserable sod!! How any angler could ignore admiring such a fine fish first hand is beyond me!

C.

its jelousy pure and simple. some geezer up the canal pre baited a swim a few days prior, someone got in to his "swim" in the morning before him and launched a dog biscuit out un struck in to a real whopper.

when the guy who "Stole" his swim kindly asked the guy who baited it a few days before if he had any scales to weigh his catch he refused and told him to **** off it was his swim he stole and he should have caught it... it wasnt untill someone stepped in and told him to stop being a miserable old sod he reluctantly weighed it.

it was a 20lb mirror carp from firhill basin on the forth & Clyde canal!!!

but yeah how could any angler refuse a chance at a glance of a 20lb+ pike!

Janet, there are quite a few pics of me with fish....and a proper hat..... here is another one to make your mouth water..

Oooh! It didn't quite make my mouth water, but it made my eyes smart a bit! Wooooaaaagh! That is scary! The fish was OK, but I remain traumatised by that hat!

I'll be down your way next year....we've booked a whole month on a narrowboat to do the Thames Ring....

Be afraid...be very afraid...coming to a waterway near you....!

Den that is a stunning brace well done [very jealous face] and well done on the new Pb ,catch the bigger one again in late Feb and it will be another PB by some margin methinks

Not sure I'd like either of those being landed in the Portabote Steve....with both of us in it!

May have to reconsider my view that Pike are ugly, they are stunning fish with beautiful markings. Well done Den

It's never a 'six', let's put it back

Thanks for the comments (and laughs) I don't have any regrets, only a slight niggle that I didn't get any video of the fish being returned. There was a border of dense dead floating weed in front, and I had to slide my weigh sling out and it only just reached the edge, The fish then slowly wriggled and slithered out of the sling, and slipped over the weed and swam slowly off. Looked for all the world like a Polaris submarine :)

Andy, I'm a real old "wrinkly" and a "grumpy old man", and if I were a woman, I would be wearing "purple and spitting" My rods and reels are mucky, my boots and waterproofs get pretty smelly. Wife won't let me in the house each evening until I have changed my socks and trousers :) ...........................But..........................I have to agree with you all......................now I have seen the video, the hat will have to go :)

But, on second thoughts??????????????????? is it a "lucky" hat? should I keep it? What would you do?

Den

"When through the woods and forest glades I wanderAnd hear the birds sing sweetly in the trees; When I look down from lofty mountain grandeur,And hear the brook, and feel the breeze;and see the waves crash on the shore,Then sings my soul..................

for all you Spodders. https://youtu.be/XYxsY-FbSic

Keep the hat Den, without it you'll be as effective as a freshly shaven Samson :D

In fact, I'll bet a fiver that if you go piking in a Sombrero, you'll get a 30...

And those who were seen dancing were thought to be insane by those who could not hear the music
