BARBLE IN" STILLWATERS!"

But in countries which allow eggs as bait, it is said to be a no fail bait.

So maybe you'd do well to try some of the artificial salmon eggs as bait? Similar to the situation with plastic corn in that it often works as well as the natural product.

There are now about 5 pages of existing ones you can pick from or if nothing there suits you, Gray-Catchpole can shrink a picture if you post it on here or email it to him and make it available in that section.

.... so they must be able to survive in stillwaters or they wouldn't be for sale

Survive, even thrive. Just can't breed.

I keep reading that stillwater barbel "cant breed" So what are the requirements for breeding?

Oh yes, fast water, clean gravel, probably the right temperatures. But do they lay the eggs in the gravel or in the weed?

But what if two randy barbel of the opposite gender were to meet up in a clear clean lake and laid their eggs on a clean gravel bottom?

Would the eggs hatch? Would they then survive?

No one so far as I know has put forward any authoritative proof that this cant happen.

The fact(?) that this has not happened yet is no guide to what might happen given a suitably large population of barbel in such an environment.

If anyone has proof that it can't happen then please supply suitable references.
