What's your MP got to say about fishing then?

Hi leon

having met Paul flyn Newport West, on more than a few occasions, mainly through a parliment bill he put forward for the support of the music scene here in newport a few years ago, i know he is totaly behind peoples rights and that inludes angling, alot of people in newport think he is radical because he actually shouts out for the people, a thing so few people in polotics do these days.

Leon

I haven't looked at your link yet but will say that I asked our local MP David Kidney what he thought of fishing last friday (he uses our garage for his fuel).

His reply was "Fishing is absolutley safe & we have no plans to introduce a bill against it", so i explained i wanted to know what HE thinks of fishing & he said "i don't go myself but i see no harm in it".

That suited me.

My perception is that, unless the MPs have personal reasons for supporting angling or not, the only thing that matters to most of them is what effect it'll have on votes!

Looking at some of the responses there's a few who won't accept the figures anyway!

However, it's a very useful link that should make it easy to contact our MPS and gauge their reactions. Thanks, Leon.

My local MP, Bob Blizzard, Labour, is well in favour of angling. His view is that you can't continue commercial sea fishing whilst banning non commercial fishing, e.g. angling. He appeared to feel very strongly about that. He tells me that he sees it as a socially positive activity, which sounds good.

Think on this MP's vote to keep in a job? any radical that will not toe the line is blown away.

So who ever is in power if or when they decide to ban what ever, it will get banned.

That's a fact no matter who or what or how many jobs are involved.

It is the Stock Market big boys that decide how and why we work and play.

No chance. If that was true, cocaine would have been legalised years ago.

i think in times past along with most recreational drugs it was :D along with oyster eating (the staple diet of medieval times) it was banned or declared an "afrodisiac"to ensure only the landed gentry could afford it :D
