I know its saturday and i fished on wednesday but i had to work and had no time to post.

i got there, set everything up (ledgering) all on my own! i was a bit nervous and the strange looks from other 'men' didnt help but it all went fine. caught four, all roach! one average about a pound, two tiny ones and then a 'HUGE' one, well it was for me! when i explained the size to my fella (yes true size!!!!!! i measured it by my shoe!!!!!! ) he reckoned it would have weighed around two pounds which he said is pretty good for a roach!

i now feel really confident and am looking forward to my next big adventure!

for the next exciting instalment keep watching folks xxxxxxxxx :P

It is to be observed that 'angling' is the name given to fishing by people who can't fish.

If GOD had NOT meant us to go fishing, WHY did he give us arms then??

(If you can't help out someone in need then don't bother my old Dad always said! My grandma put it a LITTLE more, well different! It's like peeing yourself in a black pair of pants she said! It gives you a LOVELY warm feeling but no-one really notices!))

superwoman,

GREAT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! We all hope that this is the start of Good things for you. There are many lady anglers and you will find more company on the banks as you fish throughout the years. One of the ladies at work has gone with me on a couple of occaisions and LOVES it. She is quite a good angler and wants to go more, but her time is limited. At any rate, Keep on Doing what you are DOING!!!!!!!!!!! :)

Well done! :D It's not so bad, you get used to it after a while. I love going on my own. It's the only 'me' time I get, unfortunately I don't get very much :(

I still enjoy taking Liam (my 7yr old) and I go on fish-ins to be socialable :)

Keep up the good work & keep the flag flying for us women. Sounds like you caught yourself one very good roach.

Pretty good for a roach!!!! Your telling me!! For most anglers a 2lb roach is the pinnacle. I've only had one out of the Kennet in 30 years!!

Out of interest below is an old length to weight ratio for roach - published many years ago in The Fishing Gazette & approximation to be sure but a 2lb roach IS a big fish! (I had one of 1lb 3oz yesterday which was around 11 inches)

All sizes Imperial...

Inches/lbs&ozs

8 - 0lb 4½oz

9 - 0lb 8oz

10 - 0lb 13½oz

11 - 1lb 2oz

12 - 1lb 3¼oz

13 - 1lb 8½oz

14 - 1lb 14¾oz

15 - 2lb 5½oz

16 - 2lb 14oz

17 - 3lb 7oz

Measurements form tip of nose to fork of tail.

Was catching 2 and a half pound roach by the dozen on the Erne 2 weeks ago, there common place at this time of the year on certain parts of the Erne/Shannon system. Although thats not to say a 2 and a half pound roach isent a bloddy good fish!

Well done, and keep it up.

Do any of the other male anglers here see a woman who angles for any reason as..."The Holy Grail" of fishing.

Now many of us have Girlfriends and Wives (groan),but how many of them say "Going fishing are you...can I come?"

When I meet one I shall ask her to marry me.Tell you one thing though...a 2 Lb Roach is more common than a lady angler. :P
