It's actually a heat pump and supplies the central heating. They call it aerothermie here but it is very cheap heat.

It extracts latent heat from the air outside and for want of a better description compresses it and feeds it into the heating water system which runs low temp underfloor heating.

A good heat pump has an efficiency of around 4:1 so for every kilowatt you put in you get 4 kilowatts out.

Wow! I'm impressed. I read up on the technology a few years back. Sort of like a backwards fridge but I failed to get my head around exactly how it was working. Still.....very cool ! or should that be warm ?

The missus' family are about 1/2 hour west of Le Mans.

I'll bring my gear when we visit in August!!

From having to spent every Revellion there for 20years, I'll vouch it's bl**dy cold in winter!

PS Budgie, SeaFrance is insolvent, under le revue judiciale, they won't see out the year.

MiddleEastland

Sea France is still bumping along the bottom please see the latest article from the FT, I suspect the French gov. will ignore EU rules and bale out part of a state owned company.

I'd really like to go if I could. Rest assured my weapons grade Dave will stay at home.

May stock up on ingredients (such as enriched brie 243) while over their though and try a fresh batch in situ.

You wouldnt get past customs with weapons grade dave anyway as it would be classed as a threat to national security. You would have to buy the components and assemble in secret lol
