hunt the fox

Errrr, my missus has chickens in her back yard, honest. The fox has already killed one of next doors and nearly killed another, they sit on the other side of the fences and wait for a quiet period before trying to get their wicked way.

Are the urben foxes classed as vermin, can we trap it or what ever, will the council help in trying to rid it. I have asked this question before, but can't remember if it is ok to do something about this predator. Yes i know if it was a heron or a cormorant or a otter(john wilson) there would be mayhem to play, but it is a fox and i would rather it was gone as opposed to the missus's chickens. BTW i'm sick of eating eggs. :D

Free to choose apart from the ones where the trust poked their nose in. Common eel. tope. Bass and sea bream. All restricted.

New for 2016 TAT are the main instigators for the demise of the u k bass charter boat industry, where they went screaming off to parliament and for the first time assisting so called angling gurus set up bass take bans with the e u using rubbish exaggerated info collected by ices from anglers, they must be very proud.

Upgrade, the door has been closed with regards to anglers being linked to the e u superstate and the failed c f p. So TAT will no longer need to pay monies to the EAA anymore as that org is no longer relevant to the u k . Goodbye to the europeon anglers alliance and pathetic restrictions from the e u.

Angling is better than politics, ban politics from angling.

Consumer of bass. where is the evidence that the u k bass stock need angling trust protection. Why won't you work with your peers instead of castigating them. They have the answer.

Recipie's for mullet stew more than welcomed.

Angling sanitation trust and kent and sussex sea anglers org delete's and blocks rsa's alternative opinion on their face book site. Although they claim to rep all.

new for 2014. where is the evidence that the south coast bream stock need the angling trust? Your campaign has no evidence. Why won't you work with your peers, the inshore under tens? As opposed to alienating them? Angling trust failed big time re bait digging, even fish legal attempted to intervene and failed, all for what, nothing.

Looks like the sea angling reps have been coerced by the ifca's to compose sea angling strategy's that the ifca's at some stage will look at drafting into legislation to manage the rsa, because they like wasting tax payers money. That's without asking the rsa btw. You know who you are..

As far as I know you're not allowed to relocate foxes Barry. There are several fox deterrents on the market, but I don't know how effective they are. It's not illegal to kill them, so long as you do it humanely. I think the best way is to make sure the chickens are housed in a 'fox proof' area.

If in doubt, I'd contact the RSPCA, for advice. They might even take it away for you.

John.

Angling is more than just catching fish, if it wasn't it would just be called 'catching'......... John

Urban foxes must be a real problem. We have foxes around but im not really urban!

We have problems with the wild boar in the same way. But................You can eat them so that problem is generally easily solved

The RSPCA will probably also kill them if they can even be bothered to come out.

Unfortunately another will soon take its place anyway, more than likely within days, rather than months or weeks.

They are not allowed to be re-located, they'd find their way back anyway, even from over 30 miles away and it'd just be hungrier after the walk.

Your best bet is to either attempt to fox proof your garden and the chicken run/house. A layered defence strategy is your only long term option. On the chicken enclosure itself I'd recommend some sort of underground barrier, at least 2' down into the ground. Chicken wire would do for starters I'd have thought, on a light wooden framework.

Just promise me one thing Barry, if you do decide on 'eradication', do not use poison, it's too indescriminate.

I didn't think you would but was more for the benefit of the inevitable lurkers who may well have your same problem.

You could just eat the chickens yourself..?

generally its easier to make a run and put the chickens in there.

dont use chicken wire its rubbish use chain link and include the floor .then check the chicken house is fox proof a bit of chainlink lining the inside will keep them out as thin bits of wood are no competition to a determined fox

chainlink will also keep badgers out but thats a more country side problem

theres also chainlink and chainlink ,the plastic covered stuff is mostly plastic the best is the chainlink around parks or along side railways

Mr fox got another of next doors chickens today didn't eat, just killed it. The up side is my daughters boyfreind delivered a full size metal cage trap from his work while looking after the sheep and lambs during lambing time and mr fox will try to eat some old beefburgers that we had in the freezer, rotten question, how can i kill it humanely, or do i ask the rspca to come and collect it?
