Foreign language angling signs

Have the same (bigger) problem in Ireland with usual excuse of ‘ no speakey language’ whatever its printed in. You might want to think about pictures, you know the sort of thing, a fish being carried away with a cross over it, A fish in a pan with a cross through it, fire with a cross through it etc. It’s then multi lingual provide they have sight.

This is exactly what the new KLAA signs look like so a call to their secratary would be worthwhile to see who supplied them and get some more made.

Colin,

I seriously doubt there is any misunderstanding. Why are they fishing in protected venues anyway? Do you need a sign to prosecute poachers or tresspassers (both(?)?

It would not be hard to "construct" a sign with one symbolic picture and the languages of your choice listed.

For that purpose, in response to your earlier question, the "computer" would serve nicely I'd think.

Signs only work on people who will take any notice of them. Lawbreakers will continue to break the law.

The laws exist, the problem is the means / will to enforce them.

In France the Garde Peche (fishery guardians or bailiffs) are uniformed and carry side arms. They WILL check your license. If you have no license you WILL be arrested and have your tackle confiscated. There are no signs in any language in exactly the same way as there are no signs outside the jewellers window telling you that you should not heave a brick through it and steal the contents. It is the individuals responsibility to abide by the law.

Rather than signs what is needed is some high profile prosecutions.

Let's agree to respect each others views, no matter how wrong yours may be.

Thanks everyone for the replies.

There seems to be several variations of these translations so I've gone with some images instead of text. What do you think??

As they, A picture paints a thousand words.

i think you missed the last part of the sign though: No fires, No camping, No fun

All,

It's like sueing the earthquake scientists. No logic. We have similar issues. My only (personal) justification is that the fish are nearly always consumed for survival - - - heads and all. A country like ours should not have people who fish to survive so I take a small bit of responsibility. At least that's what I'm continuiously telling myself. In our case, it more likely the kreel limit is exceeded by ten fold.

Does anyone have them?

Looking to put " All fish must be returned alive" in the major EE languages, Polish, Latvian, Portugese, Russian and Lithuanian on all out club notices.

Is Google any good [reliable] for translations?
