Licence Dodgers

I think that Rudd has a point! I remember, just, when I was on a fixed budget and starting a family. Did I spend £20.00 on a licence, or take my wife out for a rare night out? Not always an easy choice. One reason that I lure fished, it was cheap angling!

Cheapskate be *uggered!! A real treat for lunch lunch was a bag of chips on Yarmouth Market, and if she was really lucky, a bacon roll OR a bowl of mushy peas. If I'd been a cheapskate we would have shared one bag! Really cheap was a bag of crisps and a pickled egg!

Hi All,

I do think that the EA could make some changes for the better in the rod licensing.

I think that a family licence should be in order so that the expense does not multiply per se within a family.

I also think that a free licence should be issued to juniors and young people that have not started work yet.

Everyone should have a licence whether it be a free one or not though.

I am afraid that I do agree with an extra licence for those that want to use more than two rods though, as this is down to personal choice.

I also think that the EA does not use the power enough that they could with licensing especially concerning litter etc. and as for checking them!, I have never had mine checked in forty years.

I think also that club tickets should only be issued on producing a rod licence.

I'm suprised anyone's ever caught.

I fish at least once a week on average, often on easily accessed park waters and canals but it's been over ten years since I was last asked to produce my rod licence by an EA bailiff. It dosen't stop me buying one though.

Has anyone here actually been asked for theirs recently?

Will

i always buy a rod lisence but i havnt been asked for one for a long time .. i fish the canal alot and alot of commercial waters i go fishing atleast 3-4 times a week if not more n i dont get asked for one .. someones not doing their jobs properly

Ive been fishing properly (As in 2 or 3 times a week) for about 3 year now. Ive never been asked for a licence. Ive never even seen or come accross a bailiff or Environment Agency enforcement officer. Ive also fished a river stretch 2 or 3 times which is owned by angling clubs, and Im still yet to come accross a bailiff from that club.

Its not hard to see why so many people dont buy licences and illegal fish poaching is commonplace.

I have been fishing for about 12-14 years. I have never been asked to produce my licence while fishing.

I did however call the EA about 2 months ago when a lake I was scouting ready for the weekends fishing, showed signs of poor oxygen levels in the water resulting in fish deaths, and extremely ill Carp!

I thought I was in luck at first when I saw 300+ Carp all near the top.... Then when I tripped up the landing stage and they didn't spook I suspected something was wrong. 20 mins later I was literally stroking Carp which were falling over near the bank.

When the EA arrived they asked for my rod license because I had told them I was ''Planning'' on fishing the water in the near future. I fortunately did have my rod license with me :D

I doubt they could have done anything if I didn't have one anyway though as I had nothing but a motorcycle helmet, keys and a digi-cam... So no fishing goods!

dont believe it the EA can do pretty much anything they wish ,even the RSPCA can take an animal if they think harm could come to it in the future anytime in the future.

simple laws brought out for one thing are easily used for another in this police state we live in ,once either can get on the spot fines (hopefully never) you'll be tripping over them like coppers outside a nightclub hoping for action (fines). ;)

a EA bailiff asked me for mine last year i told him to stick it i was bailiffing not fishing
