I met a guy in Southampton that could speak Xhosa, clicks and all. He is a fellow Scot, from Dunfermline but he spent quite a few years in SA and he picked it up when he was there.

I don't dislike Geordie accents. As to "aad wife" or "aad wifey" (Geordie) or "auld wife" or "auld wifey" it six o' t'ane an' haulf a dizen o'tiher as far as I am concerned. They speak the remnants of the English of Chauser and I can speak Lallans just like Rabbie Burns did. Geordie words like Dede, Coo, Cloot, Hoos, Wrang, Strang and Lang are in fact the original Anglo-Saxon pronounciations for Dead, Cow, Clout, House, Wrong, Strong and Long.

I do have a grasp of our local dialects and where they originate from. mind tha lad, aam nee expert like.

 

BTW i done my family tree and my gr gr gr granda'a name was Issaiah De'Ath. Maybe thou can tell iz where that name originate's, i've been telt its French!
