LoL sorry nothing like my accent, are you aware we all dont speak, have that accent here in the great North East, ? Take Teeside for instance, they speak with a Yorkshire accent, probably because they are closer to Yorkshire than we further up north. And the Northumbrians, way out in the sticks, they roll their Rs, unlike we further south.

Nah mate, The Briar Dene is up on the northern part of the sea front and I lived on North Parade in the centre of town. I would have passed it fairly frequently going out to the coast path on the mountain bike but I never drank there.

I'd occasionally have a drink in Whitley bay with the lads from the martial arts club up at the YMCA but to be fair, most of my social drinking was in Jesmond with a girlfriend or in the town with the guys from work - The Trent House was a regular haunt along with The Baltic and the usual spots in The Big Market.

even there its becoming less ,when i lived there i worked in north shields and you could hardly understand the old people but the youngsters came over ok ,its telly and teachers and immigrants thats de regioning the language.at one time its was going top be BBC "english" but now telly ,schools and the streets are full of many accents in a few years i guess there will be "northern" ,"southern" and in the case of Aldershot nepalese

 

i remember the influx of Glaswegians at glasow weekend (week?) Seton Sands (a holiday place near edinburgh) used to get a huge influx ,i pretty well understood the language but they didnt pick on me the wee english laddy they taunted the locals ,infact being a wee english laddy was somewhat of a celebrity then

 

i for one cannot understand a word of this but i have no doubt as time passes it will become audible in most towns
