I'm not blaming you (the US) but I will hold you up as an example and a warning.

You have "intelligent design" being pushed in US schools as a way of bypassing first amendment restrictions on religion in education.

We have no such protections and we risk the creation of a generation of scientifically illiterate would be terrorists.
