i'll take this opertunity to say its Lidl tackle time again on the 5th of march ,and the box's of 50 starlights will be there again .i prefer isotopes myself ,i have them on my barbel rods & too avoid the dancing lights syndrome ,i afix them like this

no more eye strain with hallucinated dancing lights ,now they just gently sway ,then dart away when the fishes bite

This looks very neat, but doesn't it create a flat spot, especially on a quivertip?

I use the drennan isotopes which aren't as bright as starlights but easier to look at in the dark (I find so, any way). Plus I can leave them on the rod all the time and not have to think about them.

Having 2 rather than 1 really helps you see what the tip is doing. I have one right at the tip and the other about 12" down from there.

And those who were seen dancing were thought to be insane by those who could not hear the music

i bought a bumper pack of "glo sticks" from Lidls a couple of years back! about £3 for 50 of them, came in various colours, red, blue and green...actually find the blue is best for fishing. i use them in the top of the drennan crystal wagglers for fishing at dusk.

can you get alternative colours in the other devices??

All,

I can't do pictures (to stupid). Does anyone else use the little colored Colman LED camp site lights. They have an off on switch. (Campers use them to "invite" others to come to visit their campsite for a vist). They use a hearing aid battery and weigh about the same as the gizzmos you guys are talking about. In fact, I believe they may be the same "bulb" that is in the Lindy bobber (float). May be lower voltage (?).

Anyway, I sometimes use them as a "swinger" between the tip and the first eye on the rod with no interference even using a VERY slow rod. The batteries last about 10 hrs and cost $6.00 for (six or eight in a package, I forget).

They are not nearly as bright as the LED Xmas lights you can now get in the strings.

The Colman ones come with a little hanger and lamp shade and bottom fixture. Just strip all that away to the basic lamp.

Edit: Size wise they are about 1 inch long and about 1/4 inch tube.

Yes, you can get isotopes in a variety of both colours and brightnesses. Thry're expensive to buy but last many years.
