Nah, I like the natural approach      :)    

Me too, the ponds bloomin full of leaves from the apple tree but i don't want to cover it. I just try to net out as much as possible.
chop down the apple tree then and go to Asda :D

I had the same problem - got a UV thingy for my birthday and now its clear as tap water. I cover the pond for the few weeks that the leaves are falling with the same mesh I use to cover the veggie seeds when they are sown, its no bother and you can hardly see it. Just a few bobs-worth of netting from the garden centre, saves a lot of messing with rotting leaves.
