Hands up anyone who has flicked the baitrunner on while they go for a whizz and then forgot to flick it back off again causing general hilarity when they strike at (and miss) the next bite ;)

Ill start :P

Yep. I actually wrote about it not long ago in a 'most embarassing' thread. :D

I always have my hand on my rod, and the clutch set so a fish can take line if it so desires.

Anderoo, had me going a bit there, LoL

Even with my 65 year old bladder it is not usually such an emergency that I can't wait until the next time I reel in. :D

I also use a rod rest that will hold my rod securely.

I have 8 assorted bait runner reels and use them when approriate.

If fishing a single rod with a feeder it depends what bite indication I am using.

If I am using a quiver tip, polaris sidewinder or sliding / polaris style float then I would be watching the indicator and wouldn't need a baitrunner.

If the rod is on rests and I am using a bobbin and buzzer set up then I would use a baitrunner, or these days one of these

I prefer the fighting drag to a baitrunner

Dont modern reels have anti reverses anymore then..................and dont anglers use "feeder rods" with spliced in quiver tips or watch these tips anymore either? WTF is going on?

How are we supposed to talk to our mates, watch tele, drink lager, chuck stones in the lake, skin up, sleep AND watch a tip all at the same time budgie. ;)

Depends on the water being fished and species targetted - in early May had a great bag of decent sized roach using a 10' 6 light bomb rod, 3lb main line, 18 hook, 1.5 hooklength, smallest drennan carp feeder I had and Pinkies as bait.

All the fish came on the drop as the fish were up in the water and I had to adapt a 40yard cast to a meter short of a lillie bed so feeder dropped against a tightened up line to see the bites against the 1/4 ounce carbon tip.

I had an old boy who moved away from London some years back where he fished the London match scene sit behind me and watch for two hours.

He was impressed with what he saw as he said all he see's these days are method feeders or monster great poles being used.
