I guess he has a Swiss passport because he was born in Switzerland. Having a Swiss Father and being brought up in Switzerland probably helps with the passport allocation too.

 

Tell me what does a Swiss person look like? How would one tell a Swiss person from an Austrian or a German or a or a French person?

 

What does a French person look like? Most of the French people that I know, you would pass them in the street and not know that they were not British since in Normandy fair hair and blue eyes are pretty much the norm.

These are red herrings, non sequitors. Nobody asked asked or is disputing who invented these games. Azrael asked why we are so poor at winning them.

Looks like the sea angling reps have been coerced by the ifca's to compose sea angling strategy's that the ifca's at some stage will look at drafting into legislation to manage the rsa, because they like wasting tax payers money. That's without asking the rsa btw. You know who you are..

I haven't read through this thread, but am responding to the title - 'why can the british not play sport very well'; out of however many billion people there are on the planet, a Brit called Andy Murray is ranked in the top few in the world in tennis right now and came second in the latest high profile tournament. I'd say that he plays very well. People like Rebecca Addlington and Jessica Ennis also do pretty well at their respective disciplines and our cricket team has its moments. We have our fair share of success in motorsport, too. In fact, as a fairly small country, I'd say we do pretty well.

I can't speak for the French as a nation, but family and friends will not be displeased or just don't care who wins the Tour de France. Supporting the under dog is not a uniquely Anglo-Saxon trait.
