Only in America? Maybe not. Maybe only in Texas.

I stumbled across this rather shocking story whilst playing with Google, trying to find out a bit more about Phone's tale of the mega-church pastor that hoofed it with his church's secretary, taking USD 6,000,000 in church funds in the process.

Here is the story: The perpetrator, Derrick Birdow drove his car through the wall of Greater Sweethome Missionary Baptist Church and then proceeded to beat the church's pastor, the Rev. Danny Kirk Sr. to death with an electric guitar.

There is a twist to the tale. The perpetrator died of a "heart attack" in the back of the squad car, so we will never know what if any motive there was for an apparently mindless attack, nor will he face eartly justice, which we all know is the only kind that Cory gives credence to.

There is an article on The Huffington Post about it, it even made our own beloved Mail Online, so it must be true.

There are two comments on the Huffpo article that tickled my morbid, callous sense of humour. One poster asks "yeah but, what KIND of guitar??" to which some wag replies "Fender Splatapastor". The other comment was "Sorry to hear about the Pastor. May God watch over his family." to which another poster replies "that GOD character watched this man get BEAT to death in what's supposed TO be his house..lol", maybe not so funny, the second set of posts, but food for thought all the same.

No, you only need to ban fully automatic asssault guitars and enforce background checks to ensure that people known to be mentally ill can't buy them.

Someone posted a quip like that on the HuffPo page.

"I think we need to call on our legislators to ban electric guitars. I think exceptions should be made for Les Pauls and Stratocasters that were made in the USA."
