Chris Plumb:

Just get an OS map of almost anywhere rural in the UK stick a pin in it and you'll come up with something bizarre sounding - having spent the last 8 days traffic dodging the lanes of Cornwall, Devon & Somerset I've been through most of 'em. One of my favourites which really rolls off the tongue (and I used the know someone who lived there) is Hazlebury Plucknett.

Chris

I used to drink in Hazelbury Plucknett or was it Hazelbury Bryan, cant remember!! too much cider i'll wager! but another good pub in a village with a silly name is the Royal Oak at Hardington Mandeville, or the Mandeville Arms in the same village, havent been there for years tho!

Colin Brett:

How about Stow-cum-Quy near Cambridge [bridge over the Cam]or Happisburgh [Hayes borough] and Wymondham [Windham]in Norfolk, even Pidley in Cambridgeshire. All good for a guffaw or two!!

Colin

In Dorset we have Piddlehinton, Piddletrenthide, Turnerspuddle, Briantspuddle, Tolpuddle and Puddletown, all getting their names from the River Piddle that runs down the Piddle Valley. Just south of Briantspuddle there is crossroads with the name "Turnerspuddle Throop Clump" as the signpost title.

There used to be sign for Shitterton nearby, but I think it was changed to Sitterton, the 'h' having been silent I suppose.

Don't P**S yourself, Elton!

I've always thought some of the best names are to be found in and around the Teme valley on the Shropshire Herefordshire border - Ocle Pychard, Much Cowarne, Stoke Lacy, Moreton Jeffries, Maund Bryan, Little Cowarne, Munderfield Stocks, Suckley, Bromyard Downs, Edwyn Ralph, Edvin Loach, Marston Stannet, Tedstone Wafre, Tedstone Delamere, Shelsley Walsh (motorsport fans may recognise that one), Shelsley Beauchamp, Upper Sapey, Hanley Childe, Hanley William, Neen Savage, Hopton Wafers, Hope Bagot. And they're all in a 10 mile radius. If you visit Docklow Pools then it's odds-on you'll pass through a few of them.

I've also been through a place called Pant between Oswestry & Welshpool, and there's a place just north of Shrewsbury called Preston Gubbals which always amused me as a kid :)

And of course there's a place called Priddy between Cheddar & Wells in Somerset, not far from Wookey Hole and another place called Danger Area according to my map :D

So behave peasants - I may be decended from the Lord of the Manor! :P
