Euromillion lottery (Spain)

Recommended Posts

I received an interesting letter today (2nd class UK stamp) starting 'Dear Clarke'. It tells me I have won 915,000 euros because my ticket (which I never bought) was selected in the Euromillion Lottery 2012, based in Spain.

An obvious scam, and puzzling in a way that they haven't tried to make it more convincing. I just wondered if anyone else had received one of these letters, and how the scam works?

Loved the way they cant even get the "based in Spain" bit correct...

Although the letter was posted in the UK, it was probably put together in Madrid. There have been a number of arrests there for lottery scams recently.

Was there anything to indicate it came from Spain? How where you supposed to claim?

If you want to put details up or PM me, i will make sure that the relevant authorities get the information here if there is any connection.

Holland is another major center for scam letters ,we seem to be sending even crime offshore nowadays ,what next theres not much left we actually own anymore

The address at the top is Paseo de la Castellana, 16, 28004 Madrid.

To 'begin the claim' you have to fax a (fairly innocent) form to one number, and then phone someone else. They are both 0034 numbers.

The most suspicious thing (re how they hope to get my money) is that Espan Logistics Management S.A. is entitled to a commission of 10% after I have received my money. Hmmm. Might the 'after' change somehow?

Espan Logistics Management S.A is a bona fide company, so I suspect that someone is using their name in vain. The street is the same street that Real Madrid's Stadium is situated.

The problem isn't what people don't know, it's what they know that just ain't so.

Yeah a mate of mine got one. I am sure it had an address in Madrid too. I have no idea what he done with the letter though, he probably just chucked it.

Just to let you know that a group of 8 people, mainly Nigerians were arrested today in Valencia and Madrid in connection with letters sent to the UK amongst other countries claiming that victims had won lottery money.

A total of 1.8 million was defrauded that they know of, but the full amount is expected to be more.

Just shows how many REALLY stupid people there are that do fall for these scams. :bangin:
